ADAM Audio

collapse expand iconDescription

The ADAM Audio D3V active studio monitors provide high-definition sound for your studio. Built with premium components, the D3Vs feature 3.5" aluminum woofers, dual-sided 3.5" passive radiators and 1.5" ribbon tweeters to deliver full-range audio with stunning clarity and detail. With a USB-C input, the D3Vs connect directly to your computer for high-resolution playback of your DAW projects. Whether you're producing electronic music or recording live instruments, the DV3s give you the transparent, accurate monitoring needed to shape your mix.

Premium Drivers Reveal Nuances in Your Mix

The D3V's drivers are carefully engineered to provide the wide, balanced frequency response needed for mixing. The aluminum woofers and passive radiators extend deep into the bass range, allowing you to hear—and fix—issues with the lowest frequencies in your tracks. Ribbon tweeters are renowned for their crisp, detailed high end, enabling you to pick out barely perceptible details in the highest registers. With this combination of premium drivers, the D3Vs make it easy to achieve a balanced, professional-sounding mix.

Direct Digital Connection for High-Resolution Playback

The D3V's USB-C input provides a direct digital connection to your computer, allowing high-resolution 24-bit/48kHz audio playback without an external interface. This plug-and-play functionality means you can start mixing right out of the box without configuring software or adjusting gain levels. Whether you use Mac, Windows or iOS, the D3Vs seamlessly integrate into your setup for an intuitive workflow.

Room Optimization Switches Minimize Acoustic Issues

Placement in your studio space can significantly impact the sound of your monitors. The D3Vs feature three switches on the rear panel to help combat common acoustical problems. The Position switch tailors the bass response for speakers placed close to walls or in corners. The Desk switch adjusts the midrange for different desktop sizes. And the Room switch tweaks the treble to account for more or less acoustic treatment. With these useful tone shaping tools, you can optimize the D3Vs for your unique setup.

Stylish Design Complements Any Creative Space

In addition to their premium components and connectivity, the D3Vs boast an attractive, rounded design. Their sleek black cabinetry and illuminated front panel logo add a touch of style to your studio. Detachable stands provide the ideal listening angle, while standard microphone stand mounts give you flexibility in positioning. Overall, the D3Vs combination of high performance, intelligent features and contemporary aesthetics make them a perfect compact monitor solution for music creators.

    • Pretty solid speakers given the price and size

Overall I think given the price point and how small these speakers are, this is a solid product. The speakers are very compact and having all the controls on the left unit makes it easy to adjust volume, mute and configure room settings. Works very well for an ultra-nearfield monitoring setup. At this time Adam Audio does not appear to sell replacement or longer cords for the cable that connects the left to the right unit. This is unfortunate as the cord appears to be custom or at least not a common type and would be difficult to replace. In terms of sound, it is good but not amazing. These speakers have more bass than you'd expect for the size but do struggle with getting the fullness of bass that large monitors could produce. At first they were somewhat boomy, but selecting the correct room settings on the rear of the unit greatly improved that. The high range has a very good amount of detail and sounds pretty realistic. It might be just a little strong though. The midrange is where I personally found them most lacking. The detail here is only so so and when playing with a very nice grand piano VST, it sounded more like an upright and the midrange sounds kind of klanky and cheap. More "synthetic" sounds are generally ok to good sounding, but the midrange is definitely the lacking area for me. The good news is that these speakers get plenty loud, I had them about half way up and my keyboard volume at about a quarter and they were plenty loud. Some other minor thoughts: - There are no unbalanced inputs which may be a problem for some users. - USB input is only 16 bit, 48kHz which feels low. - If you are very limited on space then using right angle adapters will be essential but watch the connector length as cords with longer connector may be too tall to fit without putting the cords at an angle. - The stands can be removed to best fit your setup but it does not lock in place so be careful if you are lifting the speakers up as the stand could slip off. So overall I think these are good speakers so long as you cannot afford to spend more and do not have the space for larger units. If you are willing to spend just a little more and buy physically larger speakers, you'll get a lot more quality. If the size is truly a limit though, these are very strong options, especially as getting higher quality small speakers will cost two to four times as much as these. Final note, I did personally return these units due to wanting speakers with more detail. I ended up buying units that were almost four times the price and while they are definitely better, there were times when comparing the two were pretty close.
