Aquila's New Nylgut strings can roughly be considered the first "synthetic" version of gut. They are distinguished by their coloring, which is similar to that of this material, and also possess the same specific weight, meaning that (theoretically at least) the gauges to be used are the same. New Nylgut strings, however, elongate more under tension than gut strings and therefore lose a certain percentage of their diameter, which is greater than that of a corresponding gut string. It is therefore suggested that in practice the diameter in the table immediately below should be used: for example, having a gut string of 44 (or that which results from the calculations) use a New Nylgut string of gauge 46 instead.

Being made of a plastic material, Aquila's New Nylgut is characterized by a great stability to climatic changes, certainly superior to that of gut and even nylon for musical use. New Nylgut strings therefore advantageously replace both nylon and gut strings in plucked instruments and harps. sets are made using innovative materials, discovered and perfected in their laboratory after a long period of research and after being thoroughly tested, thus giving rise to a new synthetic product of high technology.
