Great Drum Kit for Beginners
I bought Alesis Crimsom II SE three months ago after reading soooo many reviews to make a good decision. One thing I didn't want is to have a kit that feels like you're playing in a toy and this one really feels like real drum. I like the size of the pads and cymbals. They are well made and has a impressive sensitivity. I just have some bad response on the Ride/bell which does not always work well in between, but I am still need to try some adjustments. The 8" tom is a little annoying, just because the rim on e-drums are a little taller. I wish Crimsom had an 10" 2nd tom. The trigger for the EZdrum is just perfect. Just plugged and worked right way. I added a stand hi-hat with Lemon controller and worked perfectly when playing EZdrum, but not so much playing with the module sounds. The reason I am mentioning the EZdrum is because the module I use only for practice because they don't sound that great. Overall, the feel of play on Alesis Crimsom is what I expected for a Edrum and I'm very glad that I didn't but anything less than that. Currently I'm planning to replace the tons by the Strike ones, but only to look good on video. I recommend it specially if you're a beginner and are searching for a real feel drum that you just buy and play out the box with no worries. Thanks Alesis for making it!

"Get a Roland," they say
In my search for a decent e-kit, several people told me that the Alesis Crimson II SE wasn't "bad," but that I would be better off getting a Roland brand e-kit because of their quality sound and durability. I just wanted something to practice on that felt kind of like a real kit, so I dismissed that advice and bought this. While the kit is physically strong and durable, the quality of the electronics are lacking. The hi hat pedal offers little utility because the response is poor. It lags, misses hits, plays open when the pedal is down, etc. The bass drum pad is similarly poor. It misses hits and can't handle quick, successive strikes. You also have to position the beater on your kick pedal very low to achieve any consistency in response from the pad. The toms and snare feel good and have less issues, but there are times when you'll strike one expecting a snare or tom sound and you'll instead hear an open hi hat or like a random cowbell sound. The cymbals are ok; they are what you'd expect from an e-kit. The module is easy to navigate but a little outdated, and the actual drum sounds are mostly bad but ok if you're just practicing. Anyway, due to these issues, the playing experience just wasn't practical or enjoyable enough for me to keep this, and I returned it, where the salesperson at the register told me I "should have probably bought a Roland."

I've had my Alesis for about 3 years but have had my fair share of issues with it. One being after having it for a few months the whole thing just stopped working, luckily I had a warranty on it and sent it back to Alesis but when I got it back it was missing parts. On top of this I have a few pads that have just stopped triggering.
Good kit for having fun with!

Just got back into drumming after a break from music. The kit is fun for the price point. Wasn't my first pick as the one I wanted was sold out. But this was THE PICK. Only dig is rack toms are a little too small for me. But if you are experienced and want to record and jam, Get it!
Not worth it...

Not worth the money. A drum kit doesn't come with a foot pedal. I'm not a musician and if I spent this much money I want the whole kit not parts of a kit.
A Great Buy!

I bought this for my son as his first electronic drum set. He's been playing an acoustic set before this. The look and sound of this system is awesome! It was very easy to set up and you can even add expansion pieces. He can do so much more with the customization of sounds. He loves it so much he can't stop playing.

I purchased this item for my daughter and myself to practice. We don't have the space for a full drum set. It's compact enough and serves the purpose I got it for.

Can you use a double bass pedal with this kit?
Maybe. The issue isn't the trigger or can two pedals be used, the issue is can two pedals fit close enough so as to hit the trigger as close to center as possible. Take a look at the pad on the Roland V-Drums TD-1DMK as an examplesubmitted4 years ago

Will any kick pedal work with this kit?
The ability to use a double pedal on e-drums has nothing to do with the pedal. If you can fit two pedals so they hit the trigger as close to center as possible it'll work. If not centered properly it won't trigger The issue is how wide is your kick pad. Take a look at the pad on the Roland V-Drums TD-1DMK as an examplesubmitted4 years ago
