Description
Nathan East, Eric Clapton's longtime bassist, is one of the most respected musicians and sought-after sidemen in the industry. In addition to working with Eric Clapton, Nathan has performed and recorded with a "Hall of Fame" roster of artists including Elton John, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Al Jarreau, Herbie Hancock, George Harrison, Joe Pass, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Barry White, George Benson, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Tom Jones, B. B. King, Madonna, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, and Sting. In addition, Nathan is a founding member of the jazz supergroup Fourplay, with Bob James (keyboard), Lee Ritenour (guitar, later Larry Carlton), and Harvey Mason (drums).
In the Contemporary Bass DVD, Nathan East breaks down his unique style of playing, demonstrating how he builds his impeccable chops, creates solos and grooves, plays walking bass lines, and interacts with a rhythm section. The DVD includes an in-depth interview with Nathan in which he speaks candidly about his personal triumphs, covering topics such as getting started in the music business, breaking into studio playing, and even revealing his favorite musician to tour with.
