Alvarez

collapse expand iconDescription

The Alvarez AG660CE2 Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar brings robust tonewoods together with a side-mounted EQ system for versatile amplified performance. This Alvarez guitar is made with a solid, select African mahogany top along with premium all-mahogany back and sides for a rich, warm voicing with excellent mid-range response. Its FS6 bracing structure and high-quality components generate superb resonance across the tonal spectrum. The flawless satin Shadowburst finish over mahogany creates an elegant, sophisticated look. For amplified playing, the AG660CE2 comes equipped with the SYS250 side-mounted EQ with backlit tuner. This gives you easy access to tone shaping and tuning adjustments.

Warm, Mid-Rich Tone With African Mahogany Top and Sides

The AG660CE2 gets its warm, balanced tone from an African mahogany top and all-mahogany back and sides. Mahogany is a highly resonant tonewood that emphasizes the guitar's mid-range, adding punch and projection to each note. The solid mahogany top allows the AG660CE2 to open up and bloom as you play, while the laminated mahogany back and sides provide stability. Together, they create a robust voice with clear definition across the tonal spectrum.

Superb Response and Sustain With FS6 Bracing

Alvarez outfits the AG660CE2 with its FS6 forward-shifted bracing pattern, which optimizes the guitar's resonance and responsiveness. The bracing provides rigid support while allowing the spruce top to vibrate freely. This allows the AG660CE2 to ring out with excellent note separation and impressive sustain. Whether strumming chords or fingerpicking melodies, you'll appreciate the dynamic tonal capabilities of this acoustic-electric.

Sophisticated Satin Shadowburst Finish Over Mahogany

The AG660CE2's flawless satin Shadowburst finish looks fantastic over the all-mahogany construction, providing an elegantly understated esthetic. The smooth satin finish allows the mahogany to resonate freely. The look is sophisticated and timeless, sure to appeal to a wide range of players. The deep cutaway grants comfortable access to higher frets while preserving the classic Grand Auditorium voice.

Side-Mounted EQ and Tuner For Amplified Performance

For live gigs and recording sessions, the Alvarez AG660CE2 comes equipped with the SYS250 side-mounted EQ system with chromatic tuner. The intuitive controls make it easy to shape your amplified tone, with bass, mid-range and treble adjustments. The tuner features a backlit display for on-stage visibility. Just plug in and you're ready to amplify the AG660CE2's warm mahogany tone.

In so many words cut short, this guitar is great. The bass is deep and reverberates really well, and the treble has no problem ringing through the bass, it has a perfect blend of tones. The guitar stability is absolutely amazing I will practice consistently for hours several days at a time, and all the while the note are in tune (plus or minus a few percent). I really like the body cutaway to reach the higher notes after the 15th fret. I would recommend to try it out and see if this guitar suits your taste.

I personally really like Alvarez guitars. When I saw this one at a great price, that was it. It has a comfortable feel, good action, and a very pleasing sound. Shape and size are just right. I really appreciate the on-board tuner. And while I bought to use as a standard acoustic, it's nice to have the plug-in capacity.

Pros-hands down best value. As others described, so full, warm, can get loud & bassy but not in a bad way. Open chords sound so good, picking too. Cons-neck on mine is heavy & when wearing a strap it swings down. Playability is above avg, not perfect.

The Sound on this guitar is so warm and full. I prefer a big body sound usually with lots of low and mid ends and less twang/bright/treble when plugged in or just acoustic. And this guitar hits that perfectly. The smooth matte finish on the guitar and how the grain catches the light to almost sparkle. Only thing I will say is the tuner display on the guitar already went out on mine at about 2 months into owning it. But this can easily be worked around and doesn't effect the sound at all. Just ease of use for quick tuning. HIGHLY recommend this beautiful guitar.

I bought this guitar to play at church, replacing my 1990 Alvarez Yairi which is going into semi-retirement. The great feel of the neck is what first sold me on this guitar. Build quality is excellent as I have not been able to find any flaws. The electronics are decent.
