Alvarez

collapse expand iconDescription

The AJ80CE 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar has a jumbo body and is part of the Artist Series that's designed to offer a rewarding playing experience. This model features an FST2 bracing system which works well with the amount of air volume the larger body produces. The forward-shifted pattern with asymmetric scalloped tone bars allows the venation to escape while adding enough stiffness to achieve great clarity, separation and even volume across all six strings.

This cutaway model allows for easy access up the neck and is fitted with the LR Baggs StagePro Bronze, a small-footprint side-mounted EQ incorporating the renowned LR Baggs Element under-saddle pickup. This is a low-profile unit with a large backlit tuner, volume, bass and treble controls and phase. The battery box is built into the end pin jack compartment for easy access with a simple push to open and change batteries.

This guitar for the price point is a full bodied/sounding guitar. Bass side and treble side outstanding. A little on the heavy side but easy to handle and finger. Actually, sounds better than my Taylor 264 12 string. It is a keeper!!

I would point the finger at Alvarez and the design of this model. I have a previous 2010 AJ0CE 6 string model and I had previously tried the previous 2010 issue twelve string in store. When I noticed they were coming out with a new "2024" version for both six and twelve string. decided to try. It was shipped to me, inside I found the preamp/electronics floating loosely inside the guitar and the oval black plastic ring was also loose. Was it supposed to be glued on? No trace of it... Previous models had 4 screws attached. Check it out for yourself... Also felt the setup was horrible and uninspiring to play. Bridge saddle to low... Nut also to low. Very Inspiring guitar to play. TRASH! Spoke to manager at St. Louis Music thru email and he said simply return to store if you don't like it. What a great customer service from them. I think it would help Guitar Center and anyone selling these 2024 AJ80CE models to stop distributing immediately. If I had a social media account like all those Youtubers I'd expose this company and their lack of dedication to making a product useful!
