I once own an Ampeg B15. Sorry I sold it now that the tone is considered the gold standard. This pedal gets me extremely close and I don't have to deal with an 80-90 lb. monster. Love it!

The Ampeg SVT bass sound without hassle. I've found the tones to be great and the pedal to be quiet and recording friendly! I have primarily used a Fender P bass with roto-sounds and have consistently achieved great reviews about the bass guitar sounds.

ONE REVIEW SAD IT HAD HISS. HOW QUIET IS IT? IS THAT A DEAL BREAKER?
The Ampeg Classic Analog Bass Preamp Pedal is generally considered to have low noise, especially for a pedal in its price range and with its analog design. Here's a breakdown of what to expect: Noise Level Overview Circuit Design: It’s an all-analog preamp with Ampeg’s classic tone stack, and it does not include any digital processing, which helps keep the inherent noise lower. Bypass Type: It features true bypass, so when it’s off, it won’t add noise to your signal. Active Use Noise: When engaged, users report minimal hiss or hum, assuming: You’re using clean power (isolated supply, not daisy-chained). You’re not pushing the gain or ultra-high/ultra-low switches to extremes. The rest of your signal chain is properly grounded and shielded. Typical Use Scenarios In live or studio situations, it’s quiet enough to sit in a pedalboard chain without being a noise issue. When boosting gain or stacking with other pedals, you may notice some slight hiss, but that’s common with most analog preamps. Tips for Keeping It Quiet Use an isolated power supply (9V center-negative, ideally 100mA or more). Keep it away from high-noise pedals like digital modulation or switching power supplies. Avoid excessive EQ boosts—cutting is quieter than boosting.submitted2 years ago
