collapse expand iconWarranty

On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. Specific models under this warranty include all SRM, HD, SA, C and S Series Speakers, all FRS Amplifiers, all HRmk2 Studio Monitors. A 1-year, all inclusive, nontransferable warranty applies to all mixers, MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Processors (digital), MR Studio Monitors, Control Surfaces, Audio/MIDI Interfaces, other SR & Recording Products. Specific product models under this warranty include all Onyx Compact, 4-bus and 8-bus, all VLZ3, all PPM, all ProFX, all CFXmk2 Mixers, all MR Studio Monitors, Big Knob, Onyx 800R, all MCU Pro family. Yep! This is It!

I recently "upgraded" from the SVT3Pro to the SVT4Pro and, after initial usuage, I am extremely pleased! Took it to practice (We play regularly 4-5 nights a week) I told both guitarist that if they continue to try to run me off the stage - I would make their ears bleed and gave them a demonstration. Problem solved. I agree with most other reviewers that it is IMPERATIVE that you choose a cab that can handle the amount of power the SVT4Pro puts out! I am currently using a SVT6X10HLF and it handles the power like a dream! I would suggest either the PR4X10, SVT6X10HLF, or the SVT8X10. Any of these will serve you fine. Unfortunately, I cannot give much of an "in-depth" review, (just got it), but, if it performs as well as it's "little Brother" the SVT3Pro, I will be a happy camper!

Ventilation problems

Great Amp, except for ventilation problems, why would they put ventilation on the sides is beyond me, must have been a Friday afternoon decision around 4pm. If you buy this amp, invest in rack amp fans, and a hole saw, drill two holes in the side of your road case so they line up with the sides of the amp, two holes on each side of the road case. These amps get hot, if they get too hot, they turn off. You need killer ventilation for these amps, other then that, their awesome.

Currently I use this equipment for medium size church worship settings and smaller gatherings between 30-40 people. I also use this for Practicing at my residence. I am impressed with the superior quality and craftsmanship.

I purchased my first 4Pro new from GC around 2015, a made in Vietnam model. It died within 2 weeks. It suddenly made almost no sound as soon as I powered it up. You could hear it, but barely. Of course, GC was great and shot me a new one asap. Knowing what I know now, it probably suffered from tube failure, possibly caused by me. I can't fault Ampeg for this. Most tubes are made in China or Slavic countries and are simply not as good as they once were. After this, I made sure that every time I shut off the amp, I turned down the gain and the master, so that when it powered up, there was no load on the amp, no POP on start-up. I now always let it warm up 5 minutes (something you should always do with any tubes to prevent damage), before I start playing. Since then I've never had a problem with this amp. I use this exclusively for practice. This warm up/ start up system should be stated in the manual. It's always a rule that you warm everything up before you crank on the main amps. My second 4Pro is American made and I purchased it used third party already rack mounted in an SKB case with a Furman power conditioner. I test drove it one cold morning for about twenty minutes and it was in excellent condition. However, once I started using it at gigs, it suffered from overheating shut down due to being rack mounted without proper ventilation. It turns out that the cooling fan was damaged from being over worked and had to be replaced (now I know why they sold it). SInce then, and some customization to the SKB case, I haven't had a single problem, gigging once a week, on for 3hrs solid at a time. I run this one through a 410 and a 410 HLF stack. As for tone, after about 3000 practice hours, it was time to change the tubes. I purchased NOS vintage american made tubes and dropped them in and OH MY GOD! The heavens opened. I got misty playing for the first time. That elusive tone I've been chasing all these years was coming forth from my bass.

  • There are so many possibilities here!

This amp is absolutely amazing! I have had mine for 6 years the only thing I have had to replace is the power switch. The amp does run hot but the amount of power I can get from this guy is insane! it definitely blows any other amp out of the water that I have played in both sound dynamic and Power highly suggest if you play with a loud band and need to cut through. the tone options are great and you can dial in your own signature tone very easily using the 9 band EQ along with the mid selector switch. I have played many gigs with it and have rarely had issues (Which were only due to poor electrical wiring in some of the lower end venues) and i use this guy daily! For metal, rock, blues, etc... this thing can do it all!

  • Yes absolutely I will definitely I love it you qualify Gear
