Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet

Also available in these bundles
Description
The Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet delivers the ultimate tonal versatility and sound quality that discerning bassists demand. This innovative 4x10" enclosure is specially tuned for enhanced low-end extension down to a thunderous 28Hz, enabling jaw-dropping sub-bass frequencies beyond the reach of traditional bass cabinets. Four high-output 10" speakers, each with 30-ounce magnets and 2" voice coils, work in concert to move tremendous volumes of air and generate tight, distortion-free bass across the entire frequency spectrum. A 1" compression driver provides crisp highs up to 4kHz for superb note definition and clarity. The SVT-410HLF's compact yet road-ready design, equipped with heavy-duty wheels and recessed handles, makes transporting this bass behemoth a breeze. Experience the Ampeg SVT-410HLF's unparalleled power, performance and portability.
Unmatched Low-End Extension
While most 4x10" cabinets bottom out around 40-50Hz, the SVT-410HLF dips down to a subterranean 28Hz for massive low-end rumble and depth. Its tuned, rear-ported enclosure and four specially designed 10" drivers work together to move air and produce bass frequencies far below the range of typical bass cabs. For players seeking to recreate the chest-thumping lows of a double 18" cabinet in a more compact, stage-friendly format, the SVT-410HLF is the clear solution.
High-Powered, High-Definition Performance
Four 10" speakers, each rated at 400 watts RMS, provide a combined power handling of 1,600 watts for volume levels suitable for any venue. But the SVT-410HLF is about more than just power—it's about fidelity. The 10" drivers feature 2" voice coils and 30-ounce magnets for tight, accurate bass reproduction across the cab's 28Hz-4kHz frequency range. A compression-driver horn tweeter extends high-frequency response up to 4kHz for shimmering highs and definition. The end result is a cabinet that keeps up with the most aggressive playing styles while maintaining tonal integrity at high volumes.
Road-Ready Design
While the SVT-410HLF produces seismic lows you can feel, its design is centered around portability. Recessed handles and an industrial-strength grip bar make loading and unloading the cabinet hassle-free. Four heavy-duty casters—two locking—enable the SVT-410HLF to be rolled into place and then secured. Skid rails protect the cabinet during transit and loading. The SVT-410HLF's compact footprint lets you achieve massive tone in a cabinet sized for tight stages.

The best 4x10 on the Market
This is the best 4x10 on the market. Its a little bigger than most but that is because of the 3 ports that alow this monster to push out the low lows. It is the essence of full range. It goes as low as a 15incher and hits the highs with clarity and sizzle. I've owned it for 9 months at the time of this review and have used it in various gigs and I'm still impressed with it. For a bass cab it has all the nessary features. It has two 1/4 inputs and two speakon inputs for connecting to the amp and adding an additional cab. It has a tweeter control knob to boost or cut the tweeter for more controle of your tone. It has wheels for transport and a bar that doubles as a towl rack when not transporting. Its 4ohm so it sucks a higher output of watts from your amp. It not only sounds great but it looks great as well. Its quite heavy at 110lbs. It has two big wheels and a bar in the back that helps with transport. I can lift it myself but if you're a little week in the knees and back you better have someone around to help you get it in and out of your vehical. All and all this is a great cab. I have owned the top of the line cabs from SWR and Eden and I've settled down with this beast becasue its the best. If anything were to happen to it I'd replace it with the same thing.

Decent cabinet, too expensive and extremely poor customer service from Ampeg.
I bought this cab in August of 2013. After the 30 day return period, I had the opportunity to use another of the same cab and found that my cab had bad speakers. They sounded bad at medium power. The cab I compared to was much better. I brought the cab to an Ampeg authorized service center. It has been 4 weeks now and Ampeg still hasn't supplied replacement speakers. I have since bought a Seismic Audio 1x15 and 2x10 cab combo and drive it with a Hartke 3500. The two were half the price of the SVT410-HLF and sound twice as good. When I get the SVT410-HLF back, I'm selling it immediately. I'm done with Ampeg...

Got this used from GC so I don't know about the tolex issues some have mentioned. Maybe that's a newer problem but this one was perfect. I paired the cab with an SVT-3Pro amp connected via 12 guage speakon cables and couldn't be happier. I mainly use it with recording and with the adjustable horn, I can get any tone for any genre I've thrown at it. I've also cranked the amp until everything in my whole house was rattling, doors, paintings, stuff on shelves. It sounded great. No nasty breakup, just glorious volume and tone. The ports on the bottom help this cab reach a bit lower than the Heritage model so I'm glad I got the classic model instead. Love the built-in wheels and towel bar handle. We've got the 8x10 big brother to this up at the studio I work but this thing is better for me. Tone is just as good as the 8x10 but at 160 pounds, no thank you. I don't know if I could even fit an 8x10 in my vehicle. Perfect cab for me.
Finally!

I use the 410 HLF in a rock band but I also play funk and R & B with it as well. I use a Portaflex PF800 head that I just love and make no mistake about it, it's an Ampeg. Like most bass players I have played and owned all kinds of rigs from GK , Eden Highwayman, Fender, MusicMan, you name it? Nothing comes close to what I get out of this 410 HLF and the PF800. The preamp is a beast, the low and high boost is just the right amount of prodding the speaker needs to give me that warm yet fat round sound Ampeg is famous for. The mid-range selector is awesome in flexibility, scooping or boosting the mids. The port allows the low end to just roll out like a could of sound you feel. Crisp highs and mids, and the articulation is like nothing I have ever played before. Crazy this is I once owned a 610 HLF and a SVT Pro-3 and didn't like it. But this time around I'm loving it. Of course I have 3 custom build jazz basses as well, loaded with EMG J set pups, that helps. Finally, I'm happy with my sound. And I bought it used by trading in my two PF115 cabs.

Bought one cab when I started playing. Added another to put the low end in the room without blasting the volume. Play 4 & 5-string basses and dare anyone to find a cab that can cleanly lay down a low B like this Classic. Love standing on a stage and feeling the sound through my feet. Crisp when you need it, warm & thunderous lows without getting muddy - that's why I have 2 of them. A bit hefty, but will be the cab of choice for the long haul.
Buy this product.

Completely satisfied. Great tone, easy to set up and the wheels make this great touring cabinet. Very sturdy. Highly recommend, especially for the quality you are getting at a great price.
