I purchased one for my '68 Princeton reverb. love the feel of turning down the power. Liked it so much I added a second unit for my Vox AC15c1 Both respond well to all power level settings. However, each amp has a difference sweet setting. Max gets a bit dirty (wink)

After a few blown fuses in my Bogner Shiva amp head I checked the outlet voltage and was running at 127V! Turns out the outlet voltage in the Nashville area regularly hovers around 127V which is WAY TOO MUCH for an amp that is designed for 117V and internally steps up power 3x to 351v (most tube amplifiers do this to some extent). After introducing the BrownBox my amps immediately performed better, and I had piece of mind that I'm not hurting my amp. Secondary benefit being extending tube life, this box will easily pay for itself at some point down the road. My problem was solved, but it gets better. This device allows you to safely lower to voltage below what an amp needs....creating a certain sound that a certain guitar legend very much favored out of his 100W Marshall amps (need I say...the BROWN SOUND?!?) Obviously experiment at your own risk, but lowering my amp down to about 110-112V I've now achieved a tone that I've been trying to nail for decades - that I had NO IDEA was a result of voltage. THAT was a happy accident...buy this because your nice amps deserve it, and then enjoy phenomenal vintage tones with ease. On that the only thing I'm disappointed in is that I didn't know about this box. I'm a gear nut, and like to think I'm pretty informed about what's out there. I'm honestly surprised these things aren't sold out everywhere. The quality of the box is top notch, and the amount of people I hear moaning about tube life, inconsistent tone from night to night/club to club that DO NOT have this box...is bananas to me. Anyway point is I found this by accident scrolling a buddy's facebook page...but people NEED TO KNOW DOC! So maybe GC needs to push this a bit more instead of Furman rack units IMO...most guys don't have a rack, but EVERYONE w/ a tube amp could use this box.
Solid and heavy, works great

Use it with a variety of vintage amps to get them running at the voltage they were designed for. Higher voltage does not equal better amp tone and also can ruin both tubes and transformers.
