I don't use this conventionally anymore. I bought this a few years ago to use on my vocals, but I have since gone to rack mount units. I had this laying around and a Bass player who nsisted on recording with inferior equipemt was driving me crazy. I grabbed this Mic Pre and placed it in the path of his amps DI, and Wallah!!! What A tight bass sound I was able to pull from his rig. I have used it on Bass amps every since. Sometimes micing the cabinet, and somtimes coming out of the DI!!! I love the control it gives me going into the recorder, and the bass is tight, clean, and punchy!!!

I haven't used a lot of pre-amps, but this thing has been a reliable workhorse for everything I've needed it to do for several years now...from mic's to acoustic guitar & bass pre-amp'ing, it's never failed. Simple to use hooks up to most anything you might need it to. For this price, I'd get another one for the road & leave one in the studio...

I bought this to help with a weak signal from an old amp. I was quite suprised and how much warmth and gain I was able to get from this little tube preamp. After this I had a chance to us it as a DI for an old reel to reel to bring some old recordings back to life. It is not a top of the line tube preamp.. but for the price I'd call it a good by on a budget.

Will this work as a di into a pa for an electric guitar.
This would not be a viable di for an electric guitar.
