AT-LP120XUSB Overview | Direct-Drive Turntable (Analog & USB)

Description
Solid Construction With High-fidelity Sound
The AT-LP120XUSB record player has a rugged body and a die-cast aluminum platter. Its heavy-duty construction helps limit vibration, resonance and feedback for improved sound quality. A hinged dust cover protects the AT-LP120XUSB and can close while a record is playing. The quartz-controlled pitch slider lets you fine-tune the speed at which a record is played.High-Performance Phono Cartridge and Stylus
The AT-LP120XUSB direct-drive professional record player features an S-shaped tonearm with adjustable tracking force. It is fitted with an AT-HS6 universal 1/2" mount headshell with an AT-VM95E Dual Magnet phono cartridge. The cartridge uses an elliptical stylus, but is also compatible with any VM95 Series replacement stylus. This elliptical stylus is great for all-around listening and is easy on your vinyl. A plug-in target light illuminates the record, so you can see exactly where to place the needle.User-friendly Controls
With a layout that is immediately familiar to professional DJs and audiophiles, the Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB record player features a simple on/off dial, start/stop button and speed selector buttons. A simple button beside the pitch slider locks the pitch at zero. Select from either 78, 45 or 33-1/3 RPM speeds with user-friendly buttons. An adapter is also included, which allows you to play 7" 45 RPM records. The record player's stroboscopic platter and speed indicator let you check the platter’s rotation speed and verify its consistency. Switchable Preamp, Detachable RCAs and USB
Listen to your favorite vinyl by connecting the AT-LP120XUSB to external speakers using RCA ports on the rear connection panel. Thanks to a switchable preamp, you can connect the the AT-LP120XUSB to external stereo components, whether they have a dedicated phono output or not. Detachable RCA plugs mean easier maintenance in the long run. A convenient USB output makes it simple to convert your record collection to high-resolution digital files using any laptop or desktop computer.

Consumer Professional Turntable
The AT-LP120XUSB replaced the AT-LP120USB. Since I am an owner of the AT-LP120USB, I purchased this upgrade for comparison. This model is set to be a "Consumer/ Professional" turntable. Even though I have mixed feelings about this unit, I figured I'd give it a try. I was disappointed to learn that some features have been removed. For example, forward/ backward direction of the platter, the tone arm height adjustment, and the pop-up cue/ target light. This unit's weight is a tad bit lighter than the original, and a plastic 45 adapter is supplied, as opposed to an aluminum adapter. Now, let's review the positive aspects of this turntable. The first thing you notice is the "much" quieter direct drive motor. A huge plus in my book. The Anti-Skate has been improved, and so has the cartridge & stylus. An AC adapter has replaced the conventional plug. This idea behind this, is to minimized harmonic distortion. There is a plug-in cue/ target light. At first, I thought it was a bad idea. The light would eventually get misplaced. However, replacement plug-in target lights are available (Google it). Not to mention easier to replace if and when it burns out. I am slightly impressed with the improved audio. The bass appears deeper, and the highs are clearer. Naturally, this also has to do with one's speakers. I was mostly impressed that AT has finally soldiered the RCA jacks directly to the circuit board. This makes transporting the unit more convenient. There is also a ground available. Since I wasn't fond of the plastic 45 adapter, I purchased an aluminum one from amazon. Final thoughts on this unit. Without a doubt, I would recommend this to all the novices out there. You become familiar with balancing a tone arm, setting the anti-skate, adjusting the pitch control, and the most challenging, aligning the cartridge/ stylus.

Bad piece of junk
Counterweight sold separately also need to get the cover hinges that were not included as well as the cartridge which is not included either. Need to spend extra to get it to work. Taking mine back tomorrow.

This product was easy to set up. I weighed a few options but I'm glad that I went with this option. I use this for sampling vinyl into different MPC machines and it sounds great. I run this through the Tascam Model 12 and that provides ample amplification for my needs. I would recommend this item.

Hi. Do you need a receiver to use this? Or can you just plug it in to some speakers? Or does it have its own speakers? Basically, can you use it right out of the box or do you need attachments? As you can see, I am a novice. Thanks.

I've had problems in the past of the turntable being either too fast or too slow on other record players. How do I know that your product will not have the same problem?
The quartz-controlled pitch slider lets you fine-tune the speed at which a record is played.
