Much Better than the AT897
submitted3 years ago
byClay
fromAthens, GA
I previously owned the AT897 (NOT the 897R) because I typically mounted it on my video camera for better audio. While the 897 was better in that it remained out of the view/frame of the camera, the sound generated by the 8035 is better by far. The 8035 has a fuller, richer sound with greater depth. The highs and lows possess more clarity. In my opinion, the sound generated by the 8035 is worth the extra dollars compared with the AT897. (I have no experience with the AT897R model, however.) My current, primary use is that I record my collegiate mathematics class lectures and I use this microphone to capture classroom discussions. I am very pleased with this purchase!
