I'm not clear on how you would connect this microphone to a standard XLR input… Do you need some kind of adapter?

I would like to know what kind of batteries it takes and how easy or difficult it is to close the battery compartment without it shorting out like a Crown headset mic I once had where I had to practically close the battery door on my finger to get a connectionl.
