Auralex MoPad Monitor Isolation Pads 4-Pack

I have a lot of things on the shelf my speakers reside. There was a bit of rattling going on. After installing these the rattling quit. Also a bit more definition in the low end became apparent. A good improvement for a small fee.

These are affordably priced which is what attracted me to them in the first place. I don't understand why made them 4 inches in width. You have to place two together for the width you need. Other than that I like them.

Great isolation pieces

I have a pair of beringer TRUTH monitors. These monsters weigh about 33 pounds each. Lesser foam would crush under the weight of these massive things. But these pads are fantastic. They are strong and thick and I had immediate results in bass decoupling after installation. Very satisfied!

I built a simple (updated) 'recording 'desk' and had my Rokit 5s sitting directly on the shelf (the Rokits have an isolation pad on the bottom of the cabinet but I was not convinced that it was very effective). I knew that I was hearing more bass resonance than I should be and felt that the speakers were a little nondescript in their sound (muddy in the mids and weak in the highs). I considered that it might be the room acoustics (as I had just re-oriented everything in the room) or my aging speakers. Aware that the cabinets were sitting in a new environment I also wondered if isolating the cabinets from direct contact with the desk would make a difference. After reading reviews for these and the more and less expensive alternatives I ordered these pads hoping that I would notice the difference. I have to say that I am now hearing a balanced, full range (within the capability of these monitors) of sonic delivery - that I had not heard before using these pads! I am not a 'heavy' listener of loud, complex types of music so I don't know if my needs are as specific as others. The primary function of my equipment is to produce clean, balanced guitar and voice recordings. I do use the monitors in my general listening/watching of non-critical subject matter (movies, youtube vids, etc.) and I have to say that I have noticed a very pleasing difference - much more 'natural' sound in every scenario. I almost purchased the newer version of these monitors because I thought that these Gen 2s were 'losing' their sound. But, now, I no longer have an excuse to buy the Gen 3s! LOL! I still may do that 'just because' (geared syndrome) and if the newer monitors ARE better, these pads will allow those characteristics to be heard and appreciated. The bottom line is that, for me, these pads make a noticeable difference and I will not use monitors without them in the future.

I don't know how these things are making my monitors sound better... but seriously.. they do.
