Just get it bro. I don't care if you can't afford it get it on the gear card. My subscription glitched and I would have lost protools for days until the subscription renewed. This saved the weekend and allowed me to activate within a few hours and I cancelled the subscription immediately.

  • Not sure I would buy again

I purchased this online and the access code came straight to my email a few minutes later. It was easy to install and register. I was up and running within 45 minutes. Plug-ins installed perfectly with no errors. It came with way more stock plug-ins than I was expecting and I plan on using protools as my main DAW from now on.

Is it compatible with MacBook pro 2012? Is this a one-time out of pocket experience or do I have to keep on subscribing or paying some type of annual fee?

I guess I need version 11 but I can't seem to find it so I guess I just need this perpetual license but I don't know what happens if I buy it and like I said I have a MacBook pro 2012 edition and I cannot update it to the latest version or it'll mess up my computer, I have 10.15.7 Catalina.

Yes, the Avid Pro Tools Artist Perpetual License is compatible with your 2012 MacBook Pro running macOS 10.15.7 Catalina. Pro Tools versions up to 2021.12 support Catalina, ensuring smooth operation on your system. Purchasing the perpetual license is a one-time expense, granting you indefinite use of that Pro Tools version. It includes one year of free updates and support; after that, you can continue using the software without additional payments. However, to receive future updates and support, an optional annual renewal fee applies. Given that your MacBook Pro cannot be updated beyond Catalina without issues, acquiring the perpetual license allows you to maintain a stable setup without the need for ongoing subscriptions or updates that might not be compatible with your system.

Yes, Avid Pro Tools Artist Perpetual License will still work if the company (Avid) goes out of business — with important caveats: What will continue to work: The version you already have installed and authorized will continue to run on your system, assuming: Your hardware and OS remain compatible. Your iLok license remains intact and functional. You don’t need to activate on a new machine, unless you have a Cloud or iLok dongle-based license.

What's the differences between Pro Tools Artist and Pro Tools Studio?

What's the differences between Pro Tools Artist and Pro Tools Studio?

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
The differences between Pro Tools Artist and Pro Tools Studio mostly come down to track counts, features, plugin access, surround sound support, and expandability. Music Production vs Post-Production Artist: Good for recording, editing, and mixing music in stereo. Studio: Adds features for surround mixing, post-production, and advanced automation, essential in film, TV, and professional studio environments. If you’re a solo musician or songwriter just starting out, Pro Tools Artist is often enough. But if you're working in professional audio environments, need higher track counts, surround sound, or advanced tools like video and automation editing, Pro Tools Studio is the better choice. Pro Tools Artist and Pro Tools Studio differ significantly in capabilities. Pro Tools Artist is aimed at musicians and beginners, offering up to 32 audio tracks, 32 instrument tracks, 64 MIDI tracks, and 32 aux tracks. It supports AAX plug-ins, basic Elastic Audio, and includes the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle. However, it lacks support for VCA tracks, video tracks, surround sound, advanced automation modes like touch and latch, and clip effects. In contrast, Pro Tools Studio is designed for professionals, supporting up to 512 audio tracks, 128 instrument tracks, 1,024 MIDI tracks, and 512 aux tracks. It also includes VCA tracks, one video track, full surround and Dolby Atmos support, surround panning, clip effects, and advanced automation tools. Studio also offers full Elastic Audio and Beat Detective functionality, as well as offline bounce, track presets, and ARA 2 support. Pricing also reflects the feature difference: Pro Tools Artist is more affordable, while Studio is a more comprehensive, professional-level toolset suitable for music producers, engineers, and post-production work.
