The BOSS DUAL CUBE BASS LX is a super portable, stereo desktop amp that’s perfect for laying down grooves while jamming with friends, practicing, recording and livestreaming—all on the go and anywhere you choose. You can bring the DUAL CUBE BASS LX to a rehearsal session and plug in with the included AC adaptor, or rock out in the great outdoors using eight AA batteries for portable power. With its 10W stereo power amp and two custom-designed 5" speakers, you’ll have the volume and headroom to keep the low-end rocking. But if you want to bring the DUAL CUBE BASS LX on a concert stage—or just need to get your sound above the bombast of a loud drummer—simply use the stereo, balanced XLR output to connect to a powered speaker or PA system. Recording your bass lines to a DAW is as easy as using USB or the i-CUBE LINK. If you’re livestreaming a lesson, demo or spontaneous solo bass performance, those same output options—combined with the Phones/Rec jack and mic volume control—let you narrate the rhythm party along with your bass sound. Want to jam with tracks on your phone, tablet or computer? Get the music playing via a stereo AUX input, USB, i-CUBE LINK Loopback or an optional Bluetooth adaptor (sold separately). If you’d rather practice getting your time as tight as the pressure seals on a submarine, the onboard metronome and rhythm tracks transform the DUAL CUBE BASS LX into a percussion partner.

Creating both subtle and pummeling bass tones—and everything in between—is easy and fun, with the DUAL CUBE BASS LX’s five amp types, five effects, a compression/drive control and onboard EQ. Want more? The DUAL CUBE LX editor (iOS/Android) lets you get deeper into tone editing and other settings. This latest evolution of the CUBE phenomenon delivers the flexibility of a big studio’s collection of bass amps, cabinets and tone-tweaking gizmos in a pro-sounding combo that can fit into a carry-on bag or atop a coffee table.

I want to add a video of Pachelbel's Canon to my previous review :: I used the looper to record guitar arpeggios, then I played the cello part on top of that. So you can really hear for yourself what this amp can do in our humble home studio.

I really enjoy this product at lower volumes - but the speakers don't handle volume, compression, and gain increase very well.

  • The King of Practice Amps for Electric Cello

I use this amp with my NS Wav4 electric cello. It perfectly produces the warm and resonant acoustic cello tones of the Wav4, plus sustained notes stay super clean without decay distortion. Input impedance is a great match for the Wav4's piezo pickups. I find the best settings for a classical cello sound is Super Flat, all effects and gain off, then all EQs, Volume and Master all at 75%. This allows me to set cello volume at 50% for practice levels, or crank the cello volume to annoy the neighbors. So many cellists have paved to way for rock on a cello - and this amp's rock patches will help me get there too! The king of practice amps :: I use as described in my practice space, and in classroom settings; then plug in the headphones for silent practice whenever. Mfg specs state longer play time with rechargeables versus alkalines, so I bought a set of 8 NiMHs, making it even more portable, and better for Mommy Nature and my pocketbook. All the effects are seriously good. I love the looper, but you'll need to load the free software to get the full 90 second capability. You'll need a pedal too, and the Roland FS-6 is excellent but pricey, so I built my own "FS-6 clone" to control looper and drums. Drums are excellent! You can't really use them for a whole song, but you'll certainly find enough patches for practice. Tap tempo meets expectations. Last but not least :: the balanced stereo line outs have a super low noise floor and are marvelous for either recording via my Scarlett interface and Reaper, or sending to the board in a live situation. Go in peace good people and play more electric cello !

How do you set the tempo of the metronome and drum tracks ? User's manual is unclear and vague on this.
