BOSS WL-Series Wireless System Introduction

BOSS WL-Series Wireless System (WL-20/WL-20L/WL-50)
Description
Once you experience the easy wireless independence provided by the WL-20 series, you’ll never go back to using a standard cable again. With no worries about cable management, you’re able to move about freely while playing at home, jamming with friends, and performing on stage. During sound check at a gig, you can listen to your tone out front and dial in the best sound for your audience. And with the ability to roam and interact with other musicians, your live shows will be more dynamic and entertaining than ever.
If you play a guitar or bass with standard passive pickups (the most common pickup type), the WL-20 model is probably your best choice. It includes built-in cable tone simulation, which reproduces the natural capacitive effect that’s introduced when using a 10-foot/3-meter guitar cable with passive pickups. This effect rolls off the treble very slightly, giving you the warm tone you’re used to hearing with a normal cable.

Great little wireless
This is a great wireless. I've had mine for three weeks, so I can't vouch for the long term reliability. What I can say is that I've done 5 rehearsals and 3 gigs in that time, and I've had no issues with interference or drops at all. I also did some test recordings with a variety of instruments, using the WL20 and cables. The difference in sound is very slight in phones and my recording system, and certainly nothing you will hear in a band setting. Overall, great product. I chose this over other competing products because I love the form factor: both the receiver and the transmitter are battery powered and tiny. So I can use them with any of my amps, any of my basses, with or without my pedalboard. I can use them with my gear, or take them to a gig where the backline is provided and jump right in, without needing more power for the receiver. And the price is great for the quality. So, super convenient, quality product. This is an excellent wireless given the parameters of the design and price point. Note: your guitars/basses do have to have solid, tight fitting jacks with nuts that are more or less flush with the jack so that the on/off pin is pushed in to power the unit. And, as noted, it does not have replaceable batteries. However, these two aspects are part and parcel with what makes it great for me: small and entirely battery powered. Unfortunately, to get around these design issues, you're going to spend more money and have a bulky receiver unit. For me, the convenience and form factor are worth it. So, if you want something small and convenient that sounds great, give the WL-20 a try.

Not as worry free as they say
When I first started playing with the WL-20 it was great. After about 30 minutes I noticed my sound kept cutting in and out. I could watch the blue receive indicator would flicker. Originally I thought it was my router being a tad too close so I moved further away and I still had the issue. So I switched guitars and I still had the issue. I contacted support and they suggested I add a washer to my guitar cable jack so the button the the transmitter would push all the way in. I can feel the transmitter move every so slightly when plugged in. I'll try the washer solution but why would this be the same on different guitars? I definitely wouldn't feel confident using this in any sort of a performance.

after about 90 days the reciever started cutting out and not working at times. The activation button by the 1/4 jack was the first suspect and by pushing it in a few times the system seemed to work again. Now the receiver has gone dark on me :-/ Want to love the WL-20 but not sure if I just got a bad pair or this is an issue for others....
Works like a charm so far.

I bought this so I don't need to run extra power supply cables to my Helix floor. I can just plug one side into the Helix and the other into my guitar. It works great and is a super simple solution. I've seen the complaints from others about warranty, etc. and I can't believe they don't understand simple concepts of industry standards. This is one of the least expensive wireless units available. Being BOSS, I expect durability and quality and that is what this provides.
just as advertised

Right out of the box I made sure it was charged well. I had difficulty with signal cutting out standing right by the receiver. I tried it on a Taylor acoustic guitar with an ES2 pickup system through my PA and Blues Junior, Telecaster (passive) through the Blues Junior and through an Aguilar 700 with my passive Fender jazz bass. The signal cut out with each. I returned it to GC and bought another brand that works well. I would not recommend this system. The clerk mentioned that this was happening frequently with the WL-20.

Is the lithium battery replaceable? Also, will this unit pick up on another signal from the others guitarists Boss bluetooth? Is there a newer model than the 2018? Thank you! Maria
The battery is rechargeable. Blue tooth should not be an issue - different frequencies. This is the latestsubmitted5 years ago

How long will the rechargable battery last before it will no longer hold a charge?
The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first. One charge cycle is a period of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged again.submitted7 years ago
