They are passive and will work with your current electronics in most basses. These dual inline-coil pickups are hum-cancelling even soloing the neck or bridge pickup, so they are well suited for studio or stage.

    I ordered these for my sire gen2 v7 5 string. These are a bit wider then the old ones so the bridge pickup was very tight had to sand the inside of the pocket to make it fit. After that wiring was simple I kept the stock pre amp and now playing live at my church the sound is definitely better then before. I tune down a full step (gospel tuning) and these pickups balanced out the low A string and made everything sound more uniform and even across the low end. With the volume up there is no hum if I let go of the strings or pop if the strings touch the top of the pickups. Definitely an improvement on a already awesome bass. Side note they don't come with any screws.
