Seymour Duncan

collapse expand iconDescription

This high-output single-coil pickup is designed to maximize the punchy midrange and hot output that Precision Basses are famous for. Say goodbye to getting lost in the mix—the SPB-3 Quarter Pound will cut through any blend of instruments with its powerful tone. Although frequently used by rock bassists chasing a heavy sound, this versatile pickup provides amazing tonal range suitable for any genre.

Massive Tone From Quarter-Inch Pole Pieces

The SPB-3 Quarter Pound gets its name from the 1⁄4" pole pieces that expand the magnetic field and frequency range for a fat, full tone with huge midrange presence and highest possible output. Hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA, these pickups use Alnico 5 rod magnets and Forbon flatwork for unparalleled performance.

Drop-In Replacement for Any P Bass

The SPB-3 Quarter Pound is a direct replacement for stock pickups in any American Standard Precision Bass. Its 4-string configuration provides a straightforward installation with no modifications required. Once in place, players will immediately notice the difference in power and articulation.

Non-Microphonic and Feedback Resistant

The SPB-3 Quarter Pound pickups are vacuum wax potted to eliminate squeal and reduce feedback at high volumes. Their highly rigid construction prevents microphonics from translating string vibration into unwanted noise. The result is a pickup that allows aggressive playing styles without sacrificing tone.

A Legendary Pickup from a Legendary Brand

Seymour Duncan has earned a reputation for crafting high-performance pickups used by world-class musicians in all genres. The SPB-3 Quarter Pound continues this tradition of excellence with its blend of innovative design, premium components, and road-tested durability. For bassists seeking maximum power and clarity, there is no better choice than the SPB-3 Quarter Pound.

Refreshing sound, great price!

Freind gave me a 2002 squire P-bass so before I chunked it in the trash I figured it might be nice to keep around the house. The pick up was shot so I got these Quarter Pounders on the advice of my Guy at Guitar Center... WOW... Easy to install and sound great. You will need to pay close attention to the mount hieght. I used high density rubber foam (0.99 at a craft store) to fill in the space under the pick-up. This gives you the Profile needed to "catch" the strings. Once in, these babys will purr and buck with little noise. At very high volumes they dont perform as well as the EMG's in my Dean but that is a different Beast... ...get them now!

I play bass not treble

Bought these for a project bass, wanted the P bass sound with some bite! Got high mids and treble but NO BASS! Well no.....the E string has bass just not A,D, or G. And the A string is way more quiet then the rest. I know how to set up my bass's and have replaced pickups before, infact took bass into GC and they checked everything said my work and set up was fine and said they didn't know why it sounded like that but would'nt let me return them. Should have got the EMG Geezer Butler Pickup, I know it sounds great, just wanted a differant sound.......guess I got it.

This is the second Precision Bass I've added quarter pounders to. It makes the pickup a lot hotter and dramatically improves the tone. I play in a 5 piece band and with these pickups it cuts through the mix so much more.

Does the circuit and knobs also come with it? or just the pickup?

The SPB is just the pup. No pots are included.
