Convenient Portable PA with Decent Sound

Very good unit for the price. I use it when performing professionally at small venues as a solo act using voice mic, instrument input and Bluetooth for MP3. It has a decent sound and good volume. It's easy to get a good mix with a volume control on each channel plus a master volume. The convenience of the battery is great. I ran it more than 12 hours on one battery charge during my tests. I deducted one star for its lack of reverb and EQ controls on each channel, but those can be achieved with a mixing board. I compared it side by side with more expensive speakers 2 to 3 times the cost. Sure enough the more expensive ones sound better. Duh. If you require primo sound, have the bucks, and don't care about the battery or Bluetooth, then consider QSC CP8 and a small mixer. But for the price and convenience the Behringer a good value.

I love this little speaker. As a frequent wedding DJ, I often need to have music playing in various zones. This speaker allows me to easily plug in an iPod (or Bluetooth with my phone) without having to dig for electrical outlets, etc. It even comes with a cheap corded microphone which isn't fantastic, but if I need to make a simple announcement-it's so easy. The charge seems to last a long time. I'm not an audiophile but I think it has a great sound. It's not loud enough to rock a party. You really wouldn't want to push it to perform in that environment. It provides great mood/background music for cocktail time, guest arrivals, etc.
I was looking for a good portable bluetooth speaker.

I was looking for a good portable bluetooth speaker. I tried Big Blue, Vava voom and Oontz. They all sounded good, but lacked overall volume and bass. Actually, the big blue speaker rocked with good bass but died a day later (no tech support, so I returned it). My outdoor deck amp is a roland KC 550 (15 inch 180 watts) - its loud and heavy (100lbs) with great bass, and I mean fricken great bass. This is what I compare everything to.... I mainly push mp3s via cell phones for outdoor deck music. The MPA40BT is a nice secondary, portable amp. Perfect for the boat or beach. Its has bluetooth and operates on nicad batteries . Overall it produces nice sounds. Its not going to rock the lake or knock down a huge block party, but it has an overall good sounds. Bass is a little weak for a 8 inch woofer, as it doesn't thump like a car sub. But the highs are great... and as I said, overall it sounds good as the midtones and sub lows blend together to produce a overall nice tone, that said, again don't expect thumping bass, even when adjusting the bass/treble.

It's the second one in a matching pair and the sound is great. Power is also sufficient for our immediate needs.

Took it out today for the first try. I did a farmers market with a friend. I only used it for bass guitar but it did the job. We don't play very loudly but I barely had it turned up at all and it filled the area well. Clean sound. My friend has also ordered the same and we'll use them for real. I play bass guitar and guitar. He plays guitar. We both sing and he plays harmonica as well. I expect it's going to be fine. We'll each have an instrument and vocal through them. As I said, I just took it out for the first time. I do this a lot. We'll see how it holds up. A nice plus is the Bluetooth. I play my tracks through it during breaks to advertise my CD.
