Description
Alvarez Artist Series
After 50 years of making guitars, continual improvement through the use of emerging technologies, processes and materials is still at the heart of their culture. Alvarez guitars are constructed correctly in every sense from raw material preparation to construction and manufacturing processes. Alvarez's tonewoods are carefully cured; components such as neck blocks and wood joints are carefully designed. The painting, sanding and polishing techniques used are continually researched and developed, and the resulting guitar tone is impeccably crafted and married to a stable, designed and lively soundbox.
The term “solid top” refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to optimize the energy a solid soundboard can generate. Artist Series is built to do exactly this. Each model is designed to get the best out of its components, and for them to work together to produce balance, lively projection and great response. These components include a bracing architecture that is specifically designed for each body shape or tonal requirement.
The Alvarez Bi-level bridge is designed to heighten string tension and improve sustain and response. Real bone nut and saddle, premium tonewoods and their crafted attenuated finish all further the quality of construction and positively impact the performance of the instrument. This caring approach to development comes from one simple goal: To deliver the best guitars in the market at every price point, instruments that are truly amazing value and offer a fantastic player experience.

I use this guitar playing in a duo and having the extra low notes really adds to the music. Setup was good on arrival, I did put on lighter strings to suit my playing style. With the guitar having a longer scale the frets are a little wider spaced than a 25 inch scale but it just took a few minutes playing to get familiar with it. I would absolutely buy it again.
Definitely a great purchase

Well built guitar. Plays great, pre amp is solid. I put a set of StringJoy light Baritone strings on it and had the action lowered a bit and can get some really good tones out of it. Love the arm rest.
This is a really fantastic instrument!

It has a great sound, and feel! I did have to have the saddle, shaved down a bit as the action was a little high, but now it is very easy to play, and feels great in my hands! Awesome, big deep sound!
Very nice guitar

My first baritone so I don't have anything to compare it to. Fit and finish is very good. From what I read the low end sound is usually quite muddy, this is no exception. I changed the strings to John Pearse 3210a (.015-.062 from .016-.070) which sound play much better in my opinion. The tuner is a little wonky but it works. I have not yet play it with an amp so I can't comment on the pickup. I got it during the black Black Friday sale and feel it is worth the money. FYI the Alvarez JC1 case is a perfect fit. Only complaint so far is that the wiring was not secured in the clip inside the body which concerned me about quality control but the rest of the setup was good aside a slight nut adjustment to get the intonation correct.
YES a keeper!
