Fender and Dave Murray have collaborated on yet another ferocious signature model for the longtime Iron Maiden guitarist. The Dave Murray California Series Stratocaster is inspired by Murray's longtime onstage go-to guitar, combining time-honored Strat tradition with the modern roar of three Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, the fast feel of a compound-radius fingerboard, and the high-performance reliability of a Floyd Rose bridge and nut.

Great stratocaster

Guitar is solid, no problems with the materials or electronics. No flaws in the finish, looks exactly like the photos on the web site. Action was very good out of the box. I had the guitar setup with a local luthier who fixed the Tremelo. The Original Floyd Rose was very stiff originally. Guitar plays extremely easy, and feels very fast. The pickups sound great through my amp. The two hotrails pickups are very hot and bright, even the neck pickup sounds bright and loud. The JB Jr not so much, but that pickup gives you a nice normal strat sound and I found is really nice for clean playing. If your looking for dual humbucker strat like I was, you might want to consider this Dave Murray Guitar. It has the looks, play ability and sound and a third humbucker in the middle position to boot. I think it is a great guitar for the money and I got a very nice deal on it here at GC. I say go for it. I like mine.

It's OK.

Received new with no issues, good build quality. Factory set up was not great, that's expected. After a set up it plays good and stays in tune. Pickups are hot and focused, I think more modern sounding. This guitar lacks sustain however, doesn't readily do sweet or buttery. Bottom line I kept it because it's a different tone but I wish I would have bought something else.

This guitar came straight out of the box ready to play. Finger board was dry but nothing a little oil couldn't cure. Action is great but the pick ups are amazing. You will not be disappointed from this buy.

Can't find any faults really..I didn't buy it brand new so idk how it was out of the box. Stays in tune always!.....the pickups are great for anything and everything you throw at it. Cleans are amazing and distorted tones sing....alot of clarity.

  • Would purchase even if it cost more. this was great price.

great compound neck. hot rails pickups great. JB jr not much different than standard strat pickup. Real Floyd Rose stays in tune even with new strings. Made in Mexico but quality as good as my Ultra.

This is a great guitar. I would compare it to any superstar on the market. It is Mexican made, but I have never had any problems with a Mexican made fender. I guess the only drawback is the resale value of a Mexican model. The pickups and floyd rose are terrific. They definitely didn't skimp on these parts. It may not be the most versatile strat ever. It does metal and hard rock fine, But if you're thinking SRV, look elsewhere.

This guitar rocks! You really get a lot of bang for the buck with a pair of Seymour Duncan Hot Rails sandwiched around a JR Jr., as well as an Original Floyd Rose. The tuning stability is unbelievable with the (almost) flat mounted Floyd. My only complaint is the action it came from the factory with, it was atrocious-close to half an inch...yikes! Once I did a full setup, it is fantastic.

I do not see a cavity under the tail of the Floyd Rose. What happens when you pull the bar up hard? It looks like it will bottom out on the top of the guitar.
