The Loudbox Mini Charge - Where are you going to take it?

Fishman

collapse expand iconDescription

The Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge is the ultimate battery-powered amplifier for acoustic musicians on the move. This 60W combo amp delivers full, natural tone with adjustable EQ and onboard effects—all in a compact, lightweight package. Perfect for small venues, open mics, busking or practice, the Loudbox Mini Charge lets you take your acoustic act anywhere without sacrificing power or performance.

Rechargeable Battery Provides Hours of Play Time

At the heart of the Loudbox Mini Charge's portability is a high-capacity rechargeable lithium-ion battery. On a full charge, you'll enjoy up to 12 hours of playing time at average volume levels. The battery recharges in just 2 to 3 hours, so you'll always be ready to plug in and play. A battery life indicator on the control panel lets you know how much playing time you have left before it's time to recharge.

Responsive EQ Tailors Your Tone

Shape your sound with the Loudbox Mini Charge's 3-band EQ featuring bass, mid and treble controls. Boost the low end for a robust, full tone or cut it for a tighter bass response. Dial in the mids to add richness and body or scoop them out for an open, airy quality. Increase the highs to accentuate pick attack and string detail or decrease them for a warmer, mellower tone. With this much tonal flexibility at your fingertips, you can achieve any acoustic sound you desire.

Essential Effects Enhance Your Performance

The Loudbox Mini Charge comes equipped with onboard reverb and chorus to polish your playing and inspire your creativity. Add a touch of reverb to thicken up your tone and enhance depth and dimension. Chorus broadens and detunes your sound for a modulated quality that pairs well with fingerpicking and rhythmic strumming styles. Adjust the level and decay of each effect to suit your needs using the dedicated effect controls on the amp's front panel.

Great Compact Amplifier

I purchased the Loudbox Mini Charge to use in small settings as a solo fingerstyle acoustic guitarist. So far I've found very little I don't like about this amp. It has great volume and tone for its size ... it really sounds wonderfully articulate despite the fact it simply can't match the headroom of larger, more powerful units. Then again, it's designed for small venues. The reverb and chorus settings are well-executed and pleasant sounding and the three band eq is responsive. Bluetooth is easy to pair and use making this a potential boon at deck and tailgate events. If I had to list negatives my first gripe would be that the channel two input is XLR only. It would have been nice to see a combination jack here for times when players want to use a second instrument input. However, a passive DI box will solve that issue. The other missing feature is an anti-feedback circuit. There is a phase switch but the lack of a true auto-notch on an amp in this price range seems strange. Finally, the on-board battery makes this unit heavier than it looks. It easily outweighs a Fender Acoustasonic 90 even though the Fender is physically twice its size. Those issues aside, the Loudbox Mini Charge is a great performing little amp with the bonus of being battery powered when needed. I'm definitely a fan.

Do not buy this "rechargeable amp"! (and I LOVE Fishman!)

Let me start by saying, I'm a professional acoustic guitar / singer and I love Fishman. This Loudbox series is sweet and warm and powerful, which is why when this rechargeable amp came out, I bought it right away! The battery life lasted for about 1.5 years, then battery completely drained. Turns out this battery is not meant to last (it's a lead acid battery, not lithium), and you have to either change it yourself (check out a youtube video and see the difficulty!) or pay to get it fixed at Fishman for $50 parts and labor + $300 shipping (depending on where you live). If I had known then what I know now, I think the best bet is to get a Fishman loudbox mini (NOT the "charge") AND get a portable electric generator $150-200 (lithium) which can last 10 years, and also can be used for your other amps. Also, the bluetooth isn't great (sometimes can't find) if it's in a crowded area which, if you're gigging like me, most of the times it is, and there's also sometimes a slight delay, so if you're using drum beats through the bluetooth (or 1/8"), it can sound off. Also, the acoustic guitar and voice will obviously be dampened by that 3rd signal, so you have to lower everything or else it will sound distorted. Love the Fishman company, but the "charge" is NOT it.

I use this product with my Martin D-28 acoustic guitar fitted with a Fishman Rare-Earth pickup with microphone. I use the amp in my home studio to practice and record using my Digital Audio Workstation. From time to time I also take the amp to friends' parties for fun and sing alongs. It's very convenient to carry and it sounds fabulous.

I bring all my guitars to the Guitar Center for service. I purchased an Epiphone electric guitar at an incredible price. I'm like a child at a toy store when I go to the Guitar Center

Very impressed with the sound quality. Great features as well including Bluetooth and being battery powered makes this a great grab and go solution. It has two channels for both a guitar and a microphone and is surprisingly loud for the size. I recommend getting a case or a cover, but appy withthe purchase.

  • Great sounding amp for acoustic performances.

Can you plug the 1/4" monitor outputs of a mixer into 1/4" instrument input of fishman Loudbox mini and use it as a stage monitor?

The monitor output has a lower impedance than the high impedance input of the Loudbox. There are better options for stage monitors.
