A really neat instrument! It's a blast to play, and there's a really wide variety of sounds (bongos, bass drum, snare) to experiment with. This cajon doesn't quite as deep of a sound as a regular, box-style cajon would have, but it definitely does the trick. It also looks super lit!
Convenient, and comfortable to play.

I bought the slaptop cajon because it's much more comfortable to play than the traditional version. The sounds are good, although a friend pointed out that the snare sound is on the opposite side to that of a drum kit. I don't find that to be a problem, and overall this is a very convenient option if you want a good percussion instrument that won't hurt your back.

Ordered online for same day in store pickup. Order had not arrived, so no payment confirmation. Took a lot of time & effort on everybody's part to complete the sale. I was advised by store personnel that if product appears as in stock online, Do Not order for same day pickup. Instead, calling the store and asking them to hold item would be easier. I agree.

Tried this instrument out for the first time last week at Guitar Center and fell in love, provides the sound of a Cajon with the feeling of just drumming on a desk or other hand percussion instruments. Has a great sound, deep bass, punchy snare, and can get some cool effects based on how you hit it. Really great product... 10/10
A great idea with a serious flaw

This is a terrific design concept which sounds great, is much easier to play than a regular cajon (the "laptop" idea is brilliant and very practical), and was a lot of fun to use, for a month or so. The problem? Two different units developed cracks along the top edges (left or right side) after only a few weeks of gentle use, creating an annoying buzz which was way louder than the snare sound. It seems that the glue which bonds the top playing surface to the sides isn't strong enough to withstand normal use. So, with great reluctance (I LOVED this drum, for the brief time it was playable!), I returned my second unit for a refund. I miss it, but won't be buying another one until I'm sure Meinl has fixed the problem.
