Martin Guitar Nazareth Factory Tour Part 1

Martin Guitar Nazareth Factory Tour Part 2

Description
This slope-shouldered dreadnought guitar features a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, producing a beautifully balanced tone with crisp trebles, a robust midrange, and complex bass. The modified low oval neck and high-performance taper provide exceptional comfort and playability. The DSS-17 Whiskey Sunset's vintage-inspired whiskey sunset sunburst finish gives it a distinctive appearance sure to turn heads.
Vintage-Inspired Sunburst Finish
The DSS-17 Whiskey Sunset showcases a rich, warm sunburst finish reminiscent of guitars from the 1930s and 1940s. Antique white binding provides an elegant contrast against the whiskey sunset burst. A faux tortoise pickguard adds to the vintage-inspired esthetic. The old-style script logo on the headstock completes the retro look.
Solid Tonewood Construction
A solid Sitka spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides gives the DSS-17 Whiskey Sunset a balanced, resonant tone with crisp highs, a punchy midrange, and complex low end. The modified low oval neck and rosewood fingerboard facilitate smooth playability and response. Scalloped X-bracing provides structural support while allowing the top to vibrate freely.
Exceptional Playability
The DSS-17 Whiskey Sunset's modified low oval neck profile and high-performance taper provide exceptional comfort and playability. The rosewood bridge and fingerboard offer a smooth surface for both strumming and intricate fingerpicking. A hand-rubbed finish gives the neck a silky feel, allowing your hand to glide easily across the fretboard.
Martin Quality
Handcrafted by C. . Martin & Co. the DSS-17 Whiskey Sunset is built from premium, hand-selected tonewoods using time-honored techniques passed down through generations of skilled luthiers. As with all Martin guitars, the DSS-17 Whiskey Sunset undergoes a rigorous quality control process to ensure it meets their high standards for tone, playability, and esthetics before leaving the factory. Each Martin guitar is a work of art and a joy to play.

J-45 killer?
submitted2 years ago
byJohn
fromNorman, OK
This Martin dreadnought is fairly loud, and has a refined tone with deep resonating bass plus a little bit of tasty high end shimmer. But mine came out of the box with pretty high action and pretty heavy strings as if configured for some sort of hard flat picking, not for finger-style playing. I suggest ditching the factory supplied medium "retro" strings for some Martin Lifespan 12's or 11's, and having the Guitar Center technician set it up with low action. Then you'll have a dream guitar that you can play effortlessly for hours.
This is one punchy guitar

I've owned 2 Gibson J-45s. The first was a 2018 Sitka top, mahogany back and sides. The second was a Gibson J-45 with rosewood back and sides. Don't get me wrong, I love J-45s, but this Martin DSS-17 is killer! The bottom end reminds me of the 2018 45 I had, but more volume. The one I purchased had a hard case with it, so can't speak to the gig bag this normally comes with. I'd never buy a nice guitar with a gig bag. I'm too picky when it comes to humidifying my guitars, so a hard case is a must. I think this guitar had a great deal of thought put into it and they knocked it out of the park. This is my second Martin. The other that I own is a 000-15 SM, which is a great guitar as well. I'm still a Gibson fan, but let's be honest, a J-45 is a grand more than this 17. The 17 checked my boxes, so here we are.
What a wonderful guitar.

I am an old man who has always wanted a Martin guitar, just never was able to pull the trigger on buying one. This guitar is everything I ever wanted in an instrument. It is beautiful and sounds amazing. It came perfectly set up from Martin and is a pleasure to play.Don't think twice if you are considering this model. If it suits your needs, get one. You will not be disappointed.
ALMOST 5 Stars!

It is great to see Martin producing and selling a true American made guitar for such a price. It is a beautiful finish, not the typical Martin one as well. It sounds fantastic and I appreciate it NOT having electronics built-in. As mentioned..for me the action is a little high for me. Could be the string size and I do not know what "Plika set-up" means. It came in a "gig bag" which I think a guitar of this value should have had a hard case instead. Overall very pleased. I would have given 5 stars if case was a real one and action a bit more lower. Otherwise, a great job by Martin.
