New Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe v2 - Breaking outside of the Brown Sound...

Wampler

collapse expand iconDescription

Building on the foundations of the Pinnacle Standard and the original Deluxe, Wampler created this second iteration of its biggest-selling distortion pedal, the Pinnacle Deluxe.

The engineers took everything they loved about the original and added many options to make the pedal more versatile. Before now, the Deluxe was the same as the standard, but with the boost on the stomp instead of a switch. The v2 comes with an updated EQ, more control and much more versatility.

The first thing you’ll notice is the 3-band EQ. With this, you will be able to sculpt your tone like never before. Wampler also added bright and bass boosts, so you can get that fresh tone or the thump of a 4x12. Then, it added the "Valve Screamer" based pre-gain boost (that you can use when the pedal is bypassed).

Then, the secret weapon. One, the side is the SAG switch. This can allow you to remove that saggy crunch and tighten the response up dramatically, so this v2 offers not only an updated take on a Wampler classic, but also a plethora of new features that will be irresistible to tone-chasers everywhere.

The Pinnacle Deluxe v2: from the Brown Sound to classic rock, amp overdrive to screaming metal, you can have it all.

Wampler makes some of the best sounding effects pedals. With that said, I think this pedal sounded horrible and it was not very versatile. The amount of feedback I experienced was horrible. I tried this pedal into a Vox AC15 and it was nearly impossible to get a usable sound. Once I did find a usable sound, it would be safe to assume I would never touch the knobs again. Knowing that a "Marshall in a Box" style amp may not be great for a Vox amp, I tried this pedal into a clean solid state amp. The sound quality was much better but the feedback was still horrible. I usually push a cranked OCD with a transparent overdrive and I get killer distortion with zero feedback. I can use a boss metalcore for insane metal sounds, with zero feedback. This pedal, for whatever reason, gave me problems. Youtube is proof that guys can use this pedal successfully, but I feel like for the price it is not worth it. There are better options on the market for what this amp does. Also...if you really want this one specific sound you are better off just buying an amp. Pedals that make our Amp sound like a different Amp are always disappointing. If this pedal was $100 I may recommend it, but not for this huge price tag.
