To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Bogner Amplification released the Helios 100W tube-driven head. Truly a sonic time machine, Helios features hand-wired turret board construction with two footswitchable channels and footswitchable FX loop/boost. It also offers two instrument inputs ” Plexi & Hot ” for tonal variety. Channel 1 features volume control, 3-position bright switch, while channel 2 has knobs for gain, bass, middle, treble and volume control.

And, just in case 100W is a little too much for your needs, the Helios offers a half-power switch to get the rich, thick tube overdrive at much lower volumes.

After countless requests Reinhold Bogner revisited his vast amount of detailed notes that go back in time from three decades of archiving, modifying and designing amplifiers. Through this treasure of documents lives the aural mojo of clients such as Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, Jerry Cantrell, George Lynch, Michael Landau and others.

    There are a handful of amps on the market that are true professional grade. This is one of them. It's calling card is it is a 70's-80's rock tone machine. If you're looking for vintage/modded JCM 800 Marshall tone look no further. (Why not get a Marshall, you ask? Well, if you can find a vintage hand wired JCM 800 with fantastic Master Volume, be my guest.) From AC DC to Van Halen you're there. But, and here's the kicker, it's clean tone outstanding head room with resonance for days. I play a lot of swing blues and American Standards which this handles with ease. If there is any criticism it is that while you can foot switch between Clean and Dirty channels you cannot switch between the Plexi and Hot inputs. My guess is that Bogner felt that feature would be a step too far in sacrificing tone for versatility. This amp at its heart an organic no nonsense Plexi. There is a certain rawness and authenticity to this amp that other similar high quality amps with perhaps more features don't have. If versatility on stage is more of a priority you might want to consider the Ecstacy. So there you have it: a true Marshall time machine, outstanding Master Volume with no compromise cleans if you want it. Even has a 30 Watt switch if you want more compression. Rock on.
