Description
The Bugera Veyron M BV1001M bass amplifier head packs a punch with 2,000W of lightweight Class-D power. This makes it easy to transport to gigs while providing more than enough clean headroom and volume to handle any venue. The MOSFET preamp operates at high voltage like a tube preamp, giving you the rich harmonic texture, touch sensitivity and immense dynamics of classic all-tube tone. Dial in the perfect bass sound with the 3-band EQ and add compression to balance your dynamics. The Veyron M brings out every subtle nuance in your playing.
Class D Amplification Keeps Things Lightweight Without Sacrificing Tone
Thanks to Bugera's Class-D amplifier technology, the Veyron M delivers massive power in an ultra-portable package. By amplifying signals more efficiently, Class-D amps eliminate the need for heavy transformers and heat sinks. This allows Bugera to pack 2,000W of bass power into a compact and lightweight amp head that's easy to carry. And you don't have to worry about sacrificing tone. Bugera's Class-D design preserves the full frequency range with exceptional clarity.
MOSFET Preamp Captures the Feel of Classic Tube Tone
The Veyron M's MOSFET preamp operates at high voltage like a tube preamp, providing the rich harmonics, dynamic touch sensitivity and abundant headroom that make all-tube amps so coveted. This gives your bass playing a fluid, organic response. When you dig in, you'll get the full-bodied tube-like growl and compression. Play softly and the MOSFET preamp preserves the subtle resonance and sustain of each note. The exceptional headroom keeps your tone clear and defined no matter how hard you push the amp.
Shape Your Sound with 3-Band EQ and Studio-Quality Compression
Further dial in your signature bass tone with the Veyron M's 3-band EQ. Boost lows for a thick, booming bass, add mids to cut through the mix and adjust highs for crisp string articulation. The studio-grade compressor is perfect for balancing dynamics, allowing soft notes to bloom while gently smoothing peaks. This enhances sustain for funky slap bass lines. The compressor's status LED provides visual feedback so you always know when it's engaged.
Unleash Your Tone with DYNAMIZER Parallel Compression
The Veyron M's DYNAMIZER parallel compression mixes your dry tone with a compressed signal, bringing up subtle details in your playing for better note definition. This adds clarity and makes the amp more responsive to your attack. DYNAMIZER puts some of your favorite studio compression techniques right on your amp, letting you unleash huge, punchy bass tones at any volume. Use the amp's FX loop to patch in your favorite effects pedals.

Right out of the box, I suspected I had something special. Very small, a 5th of the width is the handle (very useful, btw)! Plugged it in to my 1970's Peavey cab with an 18" BW and two 10" Scorpions. On my 1st test run, I was able to dial in a pretty good sound very quickly. With more adjustments, got a very good tone. Added in my modeling pedal (with minimal settings and Ta Da! There was MY sound. I tried out a few class D bass amp heads before this one. This Bugera beats them all. Most of the more expensive models sounded horrible, others (from legendary manufacturers) had poor build quality. One complaint for Guitar Center; they had very few amp heads for me to try out. Had to order this one over the website based on specs, alone. Pro: Good tone, very Versatile. Con: It's sound is not quite as good as the old school big heavy heads. Pro: It's only 6.6 lbs! Con, it looks a little funny sitting on my BIG speaker cab. Pro: lots of good features, including a D.I. out. Con: Mono, only, can't wait for a good stereo class D, so I can Bi-amp. Pro: LOUD!!! Being old school, it blows my mind that this little thing can hit like a hammer. Con: The advertisements and the box say it's 2000 watts, but that's peak. I didn't find actual program or RMS ratings, anywhere, but 500 watts is plenty if you have good cabs. Pro: it really does have an elegant design, looks cool. OVERALL: I haven't tried a large number of class D amps, but this one sounds great and the price is RIGHT!
Bugera is impressing me more and more.

I am quickly becoming a Bugera fan. I have the 6260 guitar combo, and now this bass head. I'll be using this head for everything now though, so I'll sell the 6260. There are people who only want to play through tubes, and I get it. There is a sound you can only get from tubes that has warm overtones and harmonics. Personally, I like using pedals. Tubes add so much color that you tend to lose a lot of what the pedals are supposed to do. If you play tubes for that glassy sound, stick to the tube for color and use pedals for effects. If you play with pedals to color your sound, think about going solid state. Solid state can push sound out in a very flat way. For pedals, that is better. You get the sound of the pedal as it was meant to sound. That is especially important for amp modeling. This bass head showed me just how much that is all true. I'll explain what that means for my guitar after I talk about the bass. My bass is so clean sounding through this amp. Not much growl when overdriven, but I can do that with pedals if I want to. The head has great compression, and you can dial in a really nice range of sounds. I got warm and ultra-deep lows, and bright highs with a good attack for popping. It gets up really loud too. We all know that the 2000-watt rating is misleading. It seems that must be peak handling. That makes me guess RMS is near 500. It is louder than I will need, and it has a direct out. Now about my guitar. This head has an Aux in that bypasses the preamp. It reproduces whatever sound you are running into it without changing it. My guitar has a midi pickup that interfaces with a VG-88 modeling pedal. I ran the phones out from the pedal to the Aux in on the bass head. The sound from my guitar was more pure than I have ever heard it without headphones. There was no hum or buzz at all at very high volume. I'm selling my tube amp, and letting my pedal do all the work through this setup. I can model tube amps, and get a great sound with dynamic overtones.
