SHOOTOUT! Celestion G12M-65 Creamback vs G12H-75 Creamback

Celestion

collapse expand iconDescription

The Celestion G12H-75 Creamback speaker is based on the G12M-65 Creamback, but with an added "H" (heavy) magnet to create a speaker that delivers the sonic signature of a G12H combined with Creamback levels of power handling. The result is the G12H-75 Creamback. It delivers 75-watts of power handling with ease and has unmistakable G12H tone, with a tighter low end than the G12M-65 Creamback and a punchier, more dynamic high end. The H magnet brings additional focus, body and girth to the Creamback tone. It thickens single notes, resulting in a highly articulate, vocal character. These additional characteristics mean that the G12H-75 Creamback offers exceptional performance when used for lead guitar, and sounds massive loaded into a 4x12" cab.

Replaced the speaker in my Fender Blues Jr and have used the amp twice for gigs so far. Immediately noticeable, the tone is much smoother than before. I know this will even sound better with continued playing and a break in period. At the second gig, a friend noted my sound and asked what I had done to change it up. I'm a very pleased customer!

I have two of these in an open-back two-twelve cab wired in 4 ohms. Thought I could get a nice Fender clean sound. NOT! Too heavy and muddy in the bass and low mids. One thing all that bass does do is make leads sound bigger. Considering the weight of these speakers, I was expecting a lot more clarity from them, so I don't think they are as versatile and celestion claims they are.

  • More open and powerful than my English Greenbacks.

I bought this for an Avatar 112 closed-back driven by a Bugera V55. Very nice tones clean or overdriven. Really thickens up the Stratocaster's vintage hot single coils. Very nice crunch from the Les Paul T-Tops and SG P-90s. Just all good. Much like my 212 Celestion G12H Heritage Greens (75 and 55 hertz) but a bit more open and more efficient. Great from bass to treble.

  • i put creamback in my Bugera amp it kicks butt very happy

Put speaker in Bugera 22 watt amp, woke it up, good mid-range, breaks up nicely when cranked, super sustain. Makes guitar sound awesome!!
