Charvel

collapse expand iconDescription

The Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HSS FR E electric guitar combines bold looks with high performance sound, featuring a sculpted shredder’s cut heel and scalloped lower back bout for peak playing enjoyment, and an alder body in a bold gloss finish with black hardware. The neck is built for speed with a silky smooth, hand-rubbed satin urethane finish on the back for sublime playability, and a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel for convenient neck relief tweaks. Additional features to the neck include a 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard with comfortable rolled edges, 24 jumbo frets and offset white dot inlays.

The Pro-Mod DK24’s sound is driven by an HSS pickup configuration, consisting of a Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10B bridge pickup, Seymour Duncan Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coil middle pickup and Seymour Duncan Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 RWRP single-coil neck pickup, with plenty of focused humbucker grit and springy vintage snap. Dial in the tonal spectrum that best suits your playing with 5-way blade switching, single volume control (with 500K EVH Bourns low friction potentiometer) and no-load tone control that operates like a standard tone control from positions one through nine, removing itself from the circuit at position ten for transparent sound that lets the natural voice of the guitar shine through. Additional appointments to the Pro-Mod DK24 HSS FR E include a recessed Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo for tuning stability and pitch-raising capability, die-cast tuners and black hardware.

My charvel is the best guitar I have. In my personal it outclasses my 1992 les paul studio in every way possible. It can play any genre in the right hands. I have to still set it up still and even then the factory set up is great.

I just purchased this guitar in store on April 13 2022. After sitting down in the store and playing / checking it out, the volume knob was fitted strangely and made it seem like the pot was bad but after a set screw adjustment it rolled true but had what felt like way too little resistance. The action was too high in the upper register (about 6/64ths) but I chalked it up as a fast adjustment once I got it home. After I got it home and dialed it in, I noticed the 5 way selector was loose and crackled and the fine tuners were almost seized, very hard to move. The fret job and neck finish are incredible, and the paint is flawless. So the big things are great on this guitar but the final inspection / quality control on the electronics is terrible and I don't understand why at over a thousand dollars they couldn't throw some lube on the fine tuners. Kind of disappointed but I'm keeping the guitar. Sounds great, BTW pickups are awesome.

I play a lot of down tuned style music. Can this style tremolo hold/stay in tune? Never played a FR style before….looking to venture out and see what a lot of musicians are talking about with having "tuning stability"

Yes. A Floyd Rose doesn't pull at the tuning head. The string is locked at the nut.

How easy is it to stop tune with the bridge? I've had some complications with other guitars with FR style bridges.

I’m very sorry. I don't know what you mean by easy or what 'complications' you've encountered.
