Cordoba

collapse expand iconDescription

Cordoba's C5-CE classical cutaway acoustic-electric guitar offers players the best of both worlds. With a solid Canadian cedar top and mahogany back and sides, it produces a rich, natural acoustic tone perfect for practice or performance. The soft cutaway gives you easy access to higher frets, while the slightly thinner neck provides comfortable playability. When you're ready to plug in, the built-in Fishman Isys+ pickup system captures every nuance of your playing.

Cutaway Body For Effortless High-Fret Access

The C5-CE features a soft cutaway that provides comfortable access to higher frets without sacrificing acoustic tone. Reach notes you never could before and expand your playing potential. The cutaway design, combined with a slightly thinner neck, makes the C5-CE instantly playable whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro.

Solid Cedar Top Produces Balanced, Natural Tone

A solid Canadian cedar top gives the C5-CE a rich, balanced tone across the frequency range. Cedar is a popular choice for classical guitars thanks to its warmth, clarity and quick response. When paired with mahogany back and sides, it produces a sound ideal for any style from Latin to folk. The all-solid wood construction means your tone will only improve with age.

Fishman Isys+ Pickup System Delivers Studio-Quality Plugged-In Tone

When you're ready to go electric, the built-in Fishman Isys+ pickup system provides a natural plugged-in sound. Capture every subtle nuance of your playing through an amp or PA system. The Isys+ also includes an onboard tuner so you can tune up quickly and accurately at any gig. With the C5-CE, you have an acoustic instrument and a high-quality electro-acoustic guitar in one.

Appointments Enhance Playability and Tone

Genuine bone nut and saddle provide superior tone transfer and tuning stability. Cordoba gold tuners with pearl buttons keep your guitar in tune and add a classic touch of style. A pau ferro bridge enhances midrange tones for a balanced sound across the frequency spectrum. Together, these premium appointments give the C5-CE a tone and feel normally found on more expensive instruments.

I love this thing!

I've been eyeballing this guitar for about 1 1/2 years and finally just stopped screwing around and bought it. I used Guitar Center's phone line around Christmas and had it delivered to the house. Initially there was some buzz on the A string, then the G string, but the issue has resolved itself with no adjustments to the truss rod. I live in Michigan and I have to imagine the climate change and lack of humidity in December wreaked a bit of havoc on the wood. It plays beautifully now with no buzz whatsoever. The finish is superb with no flaws. The tuners work well, albeit a bit stiff yet. I may upgrade the strings in the near future. The cutaway is great and allows so much more playability. The electronics on-board are top notch and easy to use. It also has a built-in tuner - another plus. I am by no means an accomplished player, but I opened it up, tuned it and played a song or two on it and my wife said, "Wow, that sounds professional!" The action was great right out of the box, although after letting it settle to its surroundings first, I may look into lowering the action just a bit. I plugged it into my Peavey Vyper II and the guitar sounds just fantastic amplified. I haven't picked up my Telecaster or steel string since I bought it. The customer service on the phone was great. They promised 3-5 days for delivery when I ordered it on a Monday. It showed up by Wednesday night - another star if I could give one. I tried the Ibanez, Lucero, and the other classicals hanging on the wall at GC, but nothing sounded like this one. The cedar top gives such a full, warm sound that the others just don't compare to and at this price point, you just can't match it. You will not regret buying this guitar. It is by far the favorite in my collection!

Huge disappointment

If you want a guitar to treat it like a baby, this one could be you, otherwise, read this carefully. I wonder if all the good reviews on this product were written in the warmth of the emotion, right after they got it, because when I first got it, I was impressed with the sound quality, which lasted only for a month. When the weather got cold in november 2017, one morning I found my guitar with the frets very sharp to touch and the neck bent. I brought it to Guitar Center and they told me that I should have a humidifier on the same room I keep my guitar on winter, for the wood is too sensitive to weather. So, they charged me 60 bucks and fixed the neck. Then, I kept my guitar inside my bedroom where the humidifier was always on. One morning my guitar had a broken 5º string. I replaced it and the next day the bridge was broken (I use only light tension string). I fixed it but the neck keeps bent and the frets very sharp. All for all I will not recommend this guitar at all, for it was a frustrating experience. I also need to mention that the tuner is no longer working properly and the battery is very hard to be removed.

I bought this guitar back in 2010; it came with a soft shell case. This particular guitar needs a hardshell case, hydrometer and humidifier. If you live in the desert South West keep the humidity at 50.

I chose this C5-CE guitar for my intro into classical guitar. As in reviews; sure enough, the action is high but I believe I will be able to deal with this. The guitar sounds great and looks beautiful. The Fishman pickups do a nice job of amplifying the sound using a low volume. The electronic tuner is handy to do a quick adjustment.

  • This is my go to guitar.

This guitar is a great buy. I have owned it for around 10 years. The tone is warm, it looks good and is easy to play. I play guitar to accompany singing in casual settings. It's easy to transport and has held up well to being taken places. Don't expect it to be a $1000+ instrument.

  • My favorite guitar so far.

I have had this guitar over 5 years. The Suarez high tension strings give it a clean sound. Warm bass string and higher treble strings. The guitar looks great and holds sound longer then some of the guitars I own in this price range. Plan to stick with Cordoba is I ever upgrade. Also enjoy the cutout and pickup. After you change your strings it does take 1-2 days before your strings tighten and settle. This is due to the high tension.

  • I would not purchase this guitar again.

Tone is ok, neck is uncomfortable, does not stay in tune, I realize that it is not the premier model, and might be great for some players.
