Cort

collapse expand iconDescription

Cort’s oldest acoustic series, the Standard Series, which features this AD Mini OP 3/4 sized dreadnought acoustic guitar, defines superb performance and value for the money. Standard Series guitars are affordable but offer good solid performance for beginners and hobbyists alike in a variety of models with different types of features for any playing situation. The AD Mini OP's downsized body makes the guitar very portable for travel while delivering a big sound that belies its size.

Tonewoods
The Standard Series AD Mini OP features a top made of spruce, which provides an ideal balance between strength and flexibility, hence its overwhelming popularity as the wood of choice for acoustic guitar tops. Spruce’s versatile sonic character makes it ideal for a variety of musical genres and playing styles. For the body, Cort chose mahogany, which gives it bright, yet natural tone with a strong and warm midrange. Mahogany has long been a standard for back and sides on premium acoustics for many decades.

Other Features
With body depths from 82–101 mm and a shorter scale, the Standard Series AD Mini OP 3/4 sized dreadnought acoustic guitar is an ideal acoustic guitar for female players and children alike. Not only does its open-pore finish enhance the resonance of its tonewoods, but it also reduces the weight of the guitar for improved playability. For handy transport, itl comes standard with a gig bag.

I purchased this excellent guitar for travel in 2008. With two young kids at the time, it fit in the trunk atop all the family gear. It also fits nicely in airplane overhead bins. I've flown with it to Japan, China for a month, Vietnam, the Canadian Rockies, Maine, Boston, etc.. It has also been on many, many, road trips all over the West. As time passed, I've had a set up for low action and replaced the original nut with a custom bone nut. I recently upgraded to Grover mini tuners. An inlay dot was added along the way to the third fret. I like the playability, tone and feel. I'm 6'3", 290 lbs, with big hands. I play mostly with a pick. The fretboard and the guitar in general are fun to play. I use Elixir Polyweb 10/47 extra light strings. Fun by the campfire, in airports, hotels, passenger car seats, the beach, anytime/anywhere. I've ended up liking my Cort Earth Mini better than my Father-in-Law's Taylor travel guitar. I've enjoyed 13 years of great tunes, guitar feel and durability with my Cort. It sounds better with each passing year. This is a guitar I'll keep for life and pass it on.

Wow! This mini guitar has a big sound! This guitar was for a 10 year old student of mine, and when I got it out of the box and played it it was louder than my full size Acoustic-Electric! The Open-pore finish really lets the wood resonate. I was also impress that the guitar came with a high quality gig bag, with some padding, backpack straps, and even a front accessory pocket where you can put your picks and tuner! Also in the case was a small bag with an extra saddle, shim, and even an Allen wrench to use for adjusting the truss rod! Well done Cort!
