Humidipak

D'Addario

collapse expand iconDescription

The D'Addario Humidipak two-way humidification system is the first device that automatically regulates humidity levels for wooden instruments like acoustic guitars. Developed in partnership with Humidipak, the Humidipak system maintains a constant 45% relative humidity—the optimal climate for wooden instruments. Unlike refillable humidifiers, the Humidipak system adds and reduces moisture as needed to keep humidity at the target level.

Regulates Humidity in Both Directions

The Humidipak system eliminates the guesswork of managing instrument humidity. Musicians no longer have to worry about over-humidifying or dealing with drips and spills. The two-way system adds humidity when the environment is too dry and absorbs excess moisture when the environment is too damp. The packets in the system change color to indicate the current humidity level and when they need replacement after 2 to 6 months of use, depending on environmental conditions.

Simple to Use

The Humidipak system is easy to set up and maintain. Musicians simply place two packets in the included double pouch, position the pouch over the instrument's soundhole, and place a third packet under the headstock in the instrument's case. The packets regulate humidity within the case to keep the instrument at an ideal 45% relative humidity.

Protects Instruments During Storage and Travel

In addition to maintaining ideal humidity levels during regular use, the Humidipak system protects instruments during storage and travel. The packets continue regulating humidity within the instrument's case, preventing damage from excessively dry or damp environmental conditions. Musicians can rest assured their instrument remains properly humidified even when not in use.

Amazing!

About 6 mouths ago I got a Jumbo Taylor 315ce and wanted to upgrade my Humidity Control System. I was sick of messing around with water guess-work! So I walked into a guitar center and they told me to try this. Simply amazing! I never have to worry! Just check the pack every month to see when you need a new one! Lasts more like 4 months.

Beware - This system is not all it's cracked up to be

I live in Colorado and so have to take guitar humidification very seriously. It's a labor of love, but I'm always looking for something more convenient than wetting sponges since I travel frequently with work and can't reliably service them - and it's a pain in the behind. I've tried the humidipak system twice, the previous generation and the "new and improved" version. In both cases the paks only last about 3 weeks in this climate. There are a few problems with the design. Stuffing the saddlebag style pouches into the sound hole between the middle strings requires bending the strings to allow enough room. I prefer to slip them in between the e-strings and sound hole on each side. As the paks dry out, they get harder to slip into place. If you leave it in too long (a few weeks) the paks will dry out and get rock hard and then you'll have to be careful removing them without damaging the sound hole. It takes more than 3 paks per case to get the RH anywhere close to 40%. With only 3 guitars it's a small fortune to keep them all outfitted in humidipaks. These might work ok in moderately humid climates but they fail miserably in the high desert of Colorado. I'm going back to sponges - sigh, for my Taylor, Cordoba and Epiphone Sheraton II.

Using this to rejuvenate the wood on my guitar. So far it is working as expected. Hoping to be able to reattach the binding on this guitar by hydrating to wood slowly with this humidification system. Product is easy to use. Just open and drop in the body of the guitar. leave for a while and hopefully the body is back to normal.

I use these for my acoustic, electric, and bass guitar. It helps prevent fret sprout on all three guitars, and improves overall playability and intonation. These are essential for guitar maintenance, especially in dry climates and during winter months.

With the dry weather by acoustic guitar started to get buzzy and the frets on the neck were sticking out. I got this starter pack and stuck it in the case with the guitar and everything was back to normal within a couple of days. Perfect

  • I would definitely buy this product again

Trying to figure out a way to use the Planet Waves Humidification System Packs for an ARCHTOP guitar with no center sound hole, F holes only. Planet Waves should make a system for archtops.
I thought that I can place one pack under the headstock & the other two squeezed in on either side or at least one pack into the cutaway space. Any suggestions?

I have a travel guitar and the humidifier wont fit in the soundhole. Is it OK to just use one in the headstock?
