Humidipak

Description
The patented, two-way Humidipak humidification system (sold separately) is a two-way humidity controller that's recommended by Taylor guitars and other leading manufacturers for maintaining the stability and playability of your instrument. This humidification system maintains 45–50% relative humidity, eliminating all maintenance and guesswork. No more guessing if or when to refill the humidifier and worrying about drips or creating a mess. Unlike other refillable humidifiers, the Humidipak humidity controller acts as a gauge because it provides true two-way, purified humidity control. It adds or reduces moisture as needed to maintain proper relative humidity, which is the ideal climate for wooden instruments such as acoustic guitars.
Just place two packets in the double pouch, place the double pouch over your D and G strings, and let it hang down into the soundhole. Place the third Humidipak replacement packet under your guitar's headstock while in its case. Close the case and you're done. The packet will last anywhere from 2-6 months, depending on the humidity where you instrument is located. When the Humidipak packet becomes firm, discard it and replace it with another Humidipak replacement packet.

A good product
I was using a Kysor humidifier that went over the guitar sound hole but stoppe using it over concerns for newly installed electronics not liking moisture. I moved the same humidifier to the small space where the guitar neck heel and the case storage compartment meet. Trouble is the case closes tight up against the body offering no chance for the humidifier to work. Then I learned about this system. I purchased the system and installed the single pack in the upper tuner portion of the case and the double pack into the sound hole. I wasn't as concerned about the electronics because there isn't direct conveyence of the moisture from a wet sponge to the body. The packs lasted about 3.5 months in a relatively wet environment. When I replaced them it had turned to winter and the environment became very dry due to our heating system. The packs lasted only about 2.5 months which I found acceptable. Due to the extreme dryness (roughly 20% RH) I also re-installed the Kysor unit. I want to note that I use my guitar a lot and leave the case closed when the guitar is out so I don't know why the other reviewer isn't experiencing the same success as I have.

Effective but Short-Term Solution
For years I've struggled with the humidity issue in cold climates. Recently I purchased a new Taylor with their custom designed gig bag so thought I would try this humidification solution. I wasn't too thrilled about the possibility of replacement packs, but if they lasted as predicted, then it would be manageable. I've installed one set of packs in my guitar case and they only lasted one month. This was after ensuring the case was always closed and frequently putting them back in the sealed zip-loc bag they came in when the case was open for an extended period of time. So I need to find a more economical and effective solution since I am playing every day and frequently open my case. For long-term storage of an instrument, this would be a very good solution, especially since one would not take the time to monitor regularly, but for an instrument that is in regular use, I'm looking at another alternative.

I have used other humidifiers in the past. None work as well as d'addario. It may cost a little more than others but its worth it. Forbest results this is the right product.

These Humidpaks are lifesavers. Before I discovered these, my Martin Drs1 split down the middle of the backside from dry wood. Now I can sleep at night without worry. The humidpaks keep my quitars at 45-50 % humidity. I put three in my acoustic cases and one in my solid body cases for protection.
These are the only ones I Trust !

I have been using these Humi-Paks for years in 4 different guitars and would never use anything else. The old snake type that you had to keep wet and use a sound hole cover was a royal pain.

These humidifier packs go right in the case to prevent the wood in the guitar from dying out and splitting. This is especially critical for acoustic guitars! Ive been using them for 6 years. I wouldnt use anything else
This works well

I've been using this on the acoustic I just bought. The guitar had some issues with cracking. I got those fixed and am now using the humidipacks. So far they are working well.
