D'Addario

collapse expand iconDescription

Designed for 4- or 5-string banjos and mandolin, the NS Banjo/Mandolin Capo Pro assures buzz-free, in-tune performance at any fret. A micrometer adjustment mechanism allows you to dial in the exact tension needed for clear ringing notes without excessive force in any position on the neck. This greatly reduces the need to retune your instrument during and after capo use. The sleek aircraft grade aluminum construction can withstand the toughest playing/touring schedule while adding negligible additional weight or obstruction to the instrument.

I use this capo on my mandolin. It's makes for a much better look than a guitar capo and it allows easier access to the fret next to the capo.

  • Great design

Using this on a five string banjo. Takes about ten seconds to install/adjust. Works great and does not cause any tuning issues. I can easily "park" it on the headstock when not in use.

  • Yes I am very happy with this capo!

I'm attempting to use this capo on a mandolin with medium strings. I installed the capo on the first fret as shown in a D'Addario Youtube video. Note that the thumb screw is at one side of the back of the neck. I'm installing the capo with the thumb screw on the bass side (if you can call it that on a mandolin) of the neck. The clamping action seems to be much stronger on the side opposite the thumb screw than the side closer to the screw. So the capo clamps the high strings well, but does not clamp the bass string well at all. I'm really not finding the capo to be usable. Maybe it's the shape of my mandolin's neck, which doesn't seem that unusual? At any rate I'll be getting rid of this capo and buying a different one.

  • Works very well.

This little capo really works. Using it on 5 string banjo. Strings stay where there suppose to be no pulling to the side or out of place. Pressure stays the same across the neck.
