Very handy string height guage

This guage works well, though I've only had an opportunity to test it out once so far. I'm sure I'll be using this much more in the future, mostly for adjusting the neck relief on my guitar's, & bass'. If there's anything negative to say, it's that it works best in a room with lots of daylight. It's a bit hard to see without excellent lighting. By the way, it's covered with a thin piece of plastic that's kind of hard to peel off, but don't overlook it. It's much harder yet to see the markings with it still on!

Not the best choice for a Les Paul

While the manufacturing quality of the gauge is fine, the size and shape make it difficult to get in all of the needed places on a Les Paul. Checking pickup height at the neck was challenging due to the placement of the gauge printed marks and the space constraints where the fretboard meets the body. A set of narrow feeler gauges that would fit underneath the strings would be far more useful. This might not be an issue on other guitar designs.

  • Dont use for measuring in 64ths on the side with inches.

    This tool has a scale in inches. However the first inch looks to be divided in 64th inches. That part is not accurate & I dont recommend using it to set your action. The rest of this tool seems to be okay.

    The tool offers a great selection of measurements for diy adjustments. That said, it is hard to read the markings unless you have very good lighting.
