collapse expand iconDescription

The D'Addario EXL120 Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings are designed for guitarists seeking a versatile set of strings that deliver dynamic tone and long-lasting performance. The EXL120 strings are made with a high carbon steel core and nickel-plated steel wrap wire, which produces a distinctive bright and well-balanced sound with superb intonation. The strings are easy to bend and very flexible. As D'Addario's most popular roundwound nickel-plated electric guitar strings, the EXL120s are a "player's choice" for guitarists of all genres and styles.

Versatile Gauges Suit Most Playing Styles

With gauges ranging from 9-42, the EXL120 strings have a versatile gauge range suitable for most musical applications and playing styles. The light top and medium bottom end gauges provide a balanced tension that makes bending, strumming, and picking comfortable and responsive. The EXL120s are an excellent all-purpose string set for guitarists who play rock, blues, jazz, country, and more.

Nickel-Plated Steel Delivers Signature Tone

The nickel-plated steel wrap wire used in the EXL120 strings produces a bright tone with crisp highs, warm lows, and a focused midrange. The nickel plating also helps reduce string squeak and finger noise. The steel core adds punch and sustain. Together, these materials create a balanced tone that cuts through well in a mix without sounding harsh.

Built to Withstand Intense Playing

As the world's largest string manufacturer, D'Addario is renowned for producing high-quality, long-lasting strings that can withstand intense playing. The EXL120 strings are precision wound and highly polished to reduce premature fret wear. They are also corrosion resistant to avoid tone dulling. With proper care and maintenance, the EXL120 strings can provide a dynamic tone and playing feel for days, weeks, or even months.

The Perfect Set for Versatile Performance

Whether recording, practicing, or performing, the D'Addario EXL120 Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings provide a versatile, balanced tone and exceptional longevity. For guitarists seeking an all-purpose string set, the EXL120s are an ideal choice.

20+ years and I still default to D'Addario strings.

I've used D'Addario strings on most of guitars for over 20 years. The great thing about these strings is they sound just as good on day 30 or 40 as they do on day one. They stay in tune and store well. I've opened and used a pack I found in my closet that were over 10 years old and they were not oxidized or rusted and played just like a new pack. I always use D'Addario strings on my Tele's, Ibanez 570 and ESP MH-1000. For me they're the most versatile of strings, playing Country music to Rock or Jazz to Metal, D'Addario strings sound the best! Thank you D'Addario.

Not For Me. Never Using Again.

I've always been a person that will use anything once or twice before reviewing. So upon receiving my latest guitar, it came with these strings on them. I generally play a lot of fast metal type songs and riffs. I immediately noticed that they feel just weird or wrong under my fingers. The strings just feel wrong and they seem to not hold the notes as long they die faster. I've used a many companies, like Ernie Ball, DR, SIT Strings, And Fender Strings. These are so far the lowest on my scale. The notes die fast and when I solo, I bend A LOT, and the G and the B strings de-tune themselves after every two big bends or so. So in my opinion, Bad strings and not worth it, use a different company for better results.

The D'Addario EXL120's have great tone, long life, smooth feel, and they rarely break! I've literally been using these since the early to mid 80's. I've used other strings here and there, but have always returned to these. A bunch of my guitars have Floyd Rose trems on them and these strings can be seriously abused and will stay in tune through it all!

I love these D'Addario strings. They sound great. So much better than Ernie Ball slinky strings, for me at least. My second favorite strings are Dunlop Reverend Willy's strings. I'll be trying out some more D'Addario strings. Highly recommend.

I am sorry but the only .9 gauge we carry is the Rotosound Jumbo King Super Light Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings.
