Dynamic mics sound better directly on drums than condensers. Dynamic mics give the drum more punch and 3d sound, more dynamic range. be sure to compare these to other mics on youtube. I think the DrDk7 is the cheapest great sounding drum mics, Lewitt Beatkit Pro 7 might be my favorite. but if you want to throw more money at drum mics there is the Audix Studio Elite 8 8-piece Drum Microphone Kit, However This overhead mic sounds suprisingly great on a drum kit by itself. but to put condenser mics directly on the drums will never sound as good and any dynamic mic made for drums that you spend at least $200. Thats the funny thing about drum mics, Condenser microphones cost more to produce but Dynamic mics sound way better directly on a drum. But everyone has there own set of ears and there own opinion, just make sure to use yours. : )
