The Only Strings I Use
I had heard good things about DR Strings and haven't looked back since I tried my first set about a year ago. They really don't eat your frets and seem to last considerably longer than other strings I've used, I don't use the long-life coated strings either. The strings are very tightly wound and have a silkier, smoother feel than most roundwound bass strings (probably why your frets last). They aren't the cheapest strings, but considering how well they last, I think they are actually a bargain.

The worst strings I've ever played.
These strings catch my hands when I try to play slides. Not only that, vat the grab at my fingers every time I do a pull-off making it buzz. They chew up my frets too.

These are bright but not harsh. The highs outshine the mids. A great choice to brighten up a woody sounding bass, or for more clarity in high-gain situations. These are round core so kink them before cutting (as per DRs instructions) or they supposedly could unwind.

Not a lot to say. I prefer roundwound, just always have. I put these on my CFender Prophecy III. I took the tech's advice that they are as close to Markley's Blue Steel. I opted for them because GC is evidently dumping their Dean Markley line in favour of DR and the tech argued that these are pretty much as close as you're going to get. I'm happy...they feel right and they sound right.;

I have tried a million differant strings. For the price DR'S are hard to beat. They are easy on your fingers, deliver great tone over thier lifespan, and you know what you are getting everytime you grab a pack. Plus they are easy on the wallet!
My go to bass strings for over a decade

My last set of HighBeams were on my bass for over 6 years. They were pretty dead by then, but it really wasn't that bad. Still had a great tone, and I still did a handful of gigs with them. They stay bright for a very long time, and they don't sound bad after they've gone dead. I've tried pretty much all of the different bass strings out there, and for the money and quality, DR HighBeams are the best.
