The DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings take players back in time with their retro-styled construction and tone. Featuring round cores wrapped in pure nickel, these strings deliver enhanced sustain, rich harmonics and a bluesy warmth ideal for rock, blues and jazz. Their balanced gauge—10-13-17-26-36-46—provides comfortable tension and bright, punchy tone across the fretboard. Guitarists searching for vintage tone will rejoice in the Pure Blues' roundwound purity.

Round Cores Provide Flexibility and Fat Tone

The Pure Blues strings utilize an old-school round core, which gives them a flexible feel that enhances string bendability and vibrato response. Their round cores also enable fatter, fuller tone with robust lows, rich mids and smooth highs. Built for resonance and sustain, the Pure Blues strings sing with vintage-style tone that harks back to the golden age of rock and roll.

Pure Nickel Wrap Wire Boosts Warmth and Punch

To achieve their signature throwback tone, the Pure BLues strings employ pure nickel wrap wire. Nickel wrap enhances warmth, richness and punch while smoothing out the high end. The pure nickel also helps the strings retain their tone longer by resisting corrosion. Together with the round cores, the nickel wrap wire produces strings with a distinct sonic character ideal for classic genres like blues, rock and jazz.

Compression Winding Boosts Output and Feel

The Pure Blues utilize an extra step of compression winding, where the strings are tightly wound to increase mass. This results in higher output, enhanced resonance and improved sustain. The compression winding also gives the strings an ultra-smooth feel that eases playability. Between their flexible round cores, warm nickel wrap wire and compression winding, the Pure Blues strings achieve a perfect balance of vintage tone and modern playability.

Versatile and Balanced for Any Guitar

With their versatile and balanced 10-46 gauge, the Pure Blues strings work with any electric guitar. They provide ideal tension and tone for rock, blues and jazz while handling comfortably on any fretboard. For guitarists seeking a bold vintage voice, the Pure Blues strings deliver purity of tone.

the best strat string there is

These are simply the best sounding, best playing strings for a strat. I am very tone/feel conscious of which string is best for every guitar and this is the best match for a strat I've ever used. Been playing 30+ years pro. These are smooth, rich, great harmonic, touch sensitive, excellent sustain and "hang" strings And ... EB's are really the junk food of guitar strings - good for the masses and competetively priced - you can get full, but without great taste.

Icy highs

I've been a fan of DR strings basically since I started playing guitar when I was a teenager. I like that they're handmade in America and that they hold their tune and have very short stretching time. That being said, my first impression of a set of 9-42s was disheartening. The lows sounded fine but the highs were icy. And I mean arctic icy. It actually hurt my ears when I plucked the high E. I had to turn the treble on my amp all the way down and the tone on my guitar halfway down just to bring it to a listenable tone. I don't know if I got a bad set or something but I'm fairly sure it's not supposed to sound like that. I haven't given up yet though. Maybe it's just the guitar I'm using it on (tele). I'll try a heavier set (10-46) on my Alvarez AAT33, which is meant for jazz and blues. If they still sound icy in the highs, I'll have to find another string

While these strings might not be as well known I've found them to be a good choice. great for the folks out there who prefer to bend rather than use a tremolo

I have tried other strings over and over, but always come back to Pure Blues. There's nothing that sounds like them to my ears. Great feel, Great tone. To bad the price keeps going up. #sweepstakes
