Upgrade To The 9000 Pedal

Description
DW's 9000 Series double bass drum pedal is engineered to deliver an unparalleled combination of speed, feel and power. Featuring DW's patented free-floating rotor-drive system and rotating swivel spring, the 9000 Series optimizes the stroke for precision and performance. The infinitely adjustable cam allows the pedal to be set anywhere from Accelerator to Turbo Drive, giving players ultimate flexibility and control.
Free-Floating Rotor-Drive System Provides Direct Energy Transfer
DW's patented free-floating rotor-drive system allows the shaft to turn independently of the rotor, directing energy straight from the pedalboard to the beater for a fast, powerful stroke. Reducing friction with a multi-bearing design, the 9000 Series delivers smooth, effortless action for fluid, dynamic playing.
Rotating Swivel Spring Increases Efficiency and Feel
The rotating swivel spring system increases efficiency on both the down stroke and return stroke, creating less resistance for an incredibly responsive feel. The spring rotates with the shaft instead of fighting against it, allowing for faster, more powerful strokes with less effort.
Infinitely Adjustable Cam and Dual-Drive Options Provide Versatility
The infinitely adjustable cam gives players the ability to quickly switch the pedal feel from Accelerator to Turbo or anywhere in between. The 9000 Series also includes a chain drive and nylon strap, allowing for easy conversion between the two to suit playing preferences. With multiple drive and cam options, drummers have the versatility to customize pedal settings for any musical situation.
Precision Engineering and Premium Features
Chosen by touring professionals around the world, the 9000 Series is packed with premium features for the most discerning players. The single-post casting design provides ease of movement between the pedal and hi-hat, allowing them to be played independently or simultaneously. The Tri-Pivot toe clamp system and non-slip rubber grip base plate offer increased stability and connection to the kick drum. State-of-the-art ball-bearing hinges deliver fluid footboard action, while precision universal assemblies are machined in-house from aircraft-grade aluminum to meet strict tolerances. A clip and drum key are also included with the pedal.

Just like a real double base!
Ive played double base acoustic deums my whole life. For my birthday my wife surprised me with a Roland TD-30vk electric kit, something I had been wanting for some time. She knew I would want double base, so after some consultation with the folks at Guitar Center, she also bought me the DW-9000 pedal. Ironically, I've held a strong bias against double base pedals for decades, beliving them a poor substitute for the real thing. Was I ever wrong. This pedal works perfect. It works so well, and I am so happy with it I am seriously considering buying another one for my acoustic kit, dropping a base drum to free up some real estate. It really does work that well. :) It is also VERY adjustable so I suspect most people would be able to get exactly what they want. The quality is very good. It is obvious from holding and inspecting it, and of course playing it, that they did not skimp on materials. No cheap plastic. I prefer the chain drive but it is easily convertible to nylon if desired, and the conversion kit is included. I love these pedals.

The perfect pedals

So I traded in my DW 3000 single pedals to get this, and as great as the 3000's were…getting these was my top priority. The settings and adjustments were practically non existent and loved the way they felt right out of the box. So smooth and can feel a significant difference. Highly recommended these if you can cough up the dough for them!

Right off the bat, I've sworn by DW 5000's as the end all BE ALL for the last ten years! That was until I started tinkering around with some friends who had 9000's in their arsenal. Set aside from the disgustingly smooth accuracy that the 9000's have, Ive also noticed the velocity, attack, and release these pedals have on the head, allow for great batter head response with a deep, and open resonance. *this is the most important part of the review* The adjustments that can made to these pedals as far as personal functionality, are infinite and WILL cater to every drummers preference if the time is dedicated to really emphasizing so. This is so important! Cosmetically, I think they're beautiful. The movie "happy feet" should be about these pedals.

I'll have to put these through a good year of use before I really know how these hold up, but I can tell you after about 2 weeks of fiddling with them, these have to be the lightest, smoothest, and hardest hitting pedals I've ever used (Sorry IC). Second best were probably Speed Cobra's, followed by Axis Longboards, and my least favorite being the Demon Drives. I know everyone loves Demon Drives but I could never really feel 100% comfortable with them. After about 6 years with direct drives, I've decided to go back to chain drives and I couldn't be happier. Direct drive is simply not for me.
