Danelectro

Rewind to 1968. A guitar god used this pedal to record his first album, and the entire planet went nuts. Inexplicably, the pedal then disappeared — until now.

Danelectro has resurrected it with The Breakdown, this awesome, incredibly organic-sounding pedal. The 6-position “Break Up” control takes your guitar signal and slams the front of your amp with increasing punch. Positions 1 through 3 are ear-friendly and have “always on” potential. Positions 4 through 6 grab you and knock you back in the most pleasant way.

This is an interesting pedal. I have a ton of OD pedals and amps. As per usual, different pedals work well (or not) with different amps. My MO is to set whatever amp I'm using on clean and let my pedals do all the work, because it's so much easier to EQ the signal going in and clean up hums and hisses in the effects loop. The pedal volume and breakup knobs work in conjunction with each other, going from just a slight amount of dirt to a beautiful breakup to a vintage fuzzy hard-driven tube, but not a full fledged fuzz. Along this road, the signal is always boosted (kind of like having a BBE Sonic Stomp permanently on no matter how low the volume is). For amps that naturally run a little warm (think Blues Jr.), this box will put you straight into early Hendrix territory, with plenty of room for adjustment. You can go from Wind Cries Mary, to Voodoo Child using only the "select" switch. For really bright amps, you'll need to back off the treble and presence. . . Just say'n. Overall, I really like it. To me, the overdrive is in a different genre and a little more gritty, punchy and authentic than my 4558 TS style boxes and the drive always has this nicely sculpted low end. Doesn't get boomy or flabby (which is good, because you can't adjust the lows or highs). It is build to last and I love the silent switch. If you are looking for punch and breakup, this one is a keeper.

I use this pedal in front of my Fender 007 Bassbreaker. It is a match made in heaven. The Breakup selection from 1-6 gives incredible variety. I usually wait at least a week before applying velcro to my pedals to make sure I like it. This pedal had velcro by the end of the day. Well worth the 6+ weeks I had to wait to receive it. I like to play classic rock as well as hair metal. Hope this helps.

How will this work as the first pedal in line from my guitar it will then go into an echo plex preamp pedal and finally into an way huge aqua puss delay pedal. Will it work well like that and not make the delay sound fuzzy and unnatural.I am almost looking for that old school almost rockabilly tone. All of this will run into a fender blue jr.

You put the pedal wherever you think it sound best. Move them around . Experiment. They will all work no matter what order they are in. There is no correct answer to your question. Try it.
