Bought this little travel guitar for my 5 year old daughter as she loves to sing and is expressing interest in playing guitar. It is the perfect size for her. It has great sound and sustain, better than I was expecting, and it stays in tune!

I was on the hunt for a travel acoustic guitar and since the stores don't have much of a selection, I ordered 3 different ones. The Yamaha JR1 Mini Folk Guitar, Yamaha JR2 3/4 Scale Folk Guitar, and the Dean Fly Man Series. Both Yamahas, although great reviews, I really disliked. To me, they didn't have the rich sound that the Dean Fly Man did. The necks of both Yamahas were too thin and the sound dull. the price points for the Yamaha JR2 3/4 Scale Folk Guitar and the Dean Fly Man guitar are exactly there same, and I feel that it's because with the Yamaha you get a much better quality gig bag which is what you are paying for rather than the quality of the guitar. With the Dean fly man guitar, the case is paper thin and flimsy, but you get way more guitar for the price. Talk about your bang for the buck. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Very pleased with the quality and finish of this little guitar. Well made and very nice sound. Challenges an antique mahogany Gibson!
Great little inexpensive guitar

I bought the black one for myself as an inexpensive beater. Far exceeded my expectations. Bought this one for my daughter - her dreadnought is way too big for her. She loves this guitar - we have a ball playing them togetter
yes I would recommend this guitar

Great guitar right out of the box. For a 3/4 travel guitar I was surprised at the richness of the sound. Only complaint is the 13s that come on it , but that's just personal opinion. For a great little guitar that you want to take with you on a trip, that sounds this good ,and is priced right you won't go wrong with this one. One more thing it fits in the overhead bin of the plane just fine.
This is a real competitor of a travel guitar

I am a pretty loyal dean fan. I wanted to try this guitar for travel. The reviews on amazon weren't bad so I ordered it. It is all in all very nice. I got the bubinga top. it sounds very warm. I played the Yamaha, the martin, and the taylor of this size. Of course the Taylor is better, but the martin sounds about equal at double the price. The amazon reviews compared it to the luna travel guitar with a more masculine look. Cons - the tuning gears are sloppy. - the neck is a v shape. not necessarily a con but something to get used to - the included set of strings were lighter than what would sound best on the guitar. changing to a set of .13's did the job pros -warm bright sound - the pattern on the bubinga wood looks like a rorschach test. lots of movement very nice - very comfortable size. - the inlays are stylin. - easy on the fingers. good action out of the box.

Can a guitar strap be attached to the Dean Flight Series Travel Acoustic Guitar? We ordered the guitar, just trying to figure out if it is strap compatible. Also, does the gig bag it comes with have any kind of padding? Thank you!
There are strap buttons on the bottom and on the neck joint to put a strap on. The gig bag should have some padding. There are strap buttons on the bottom and on the neck joint to put a strap on. The gig bag should have some padding.submitted7 years ago
