collapse expand iconDescription

The Dean Thoroughbred X Quilt Maple electric guitar combines premium tonewoods, hot pickups and a fast neck for an instrument that sings, sustains and snarls. The Thoroughbred X's quilted maple top caps a chambered mahogany body, producing full yet focused tone with singing highs and tight lows. Dual DMT-designed Zebra humbuckers are high output, with an aggressive bark perfect for hard rock and metal.

High-Output Pickups Provide Powerful Growl

The Thoroughbred X's dual DMT-designed Zebra humbuckers produce a hot, snarling tone ideal for high-gain styles. These pickups deliver a tight, muscular response with rich harmonics and excellent note definition—perfect for heavy riffing and searing leads. Simply dial in your desired amount of gain and let these humbuckers roar.

Fast Maple Neck and Rosewood Fretboard

The Thoroughbred X's maple neck has a comfortable C-shape and silky-smooth satin finish. Its 12" radius Indian rosewood fretboard facilitates effortless bending and low-action playing. 22 jumbo frets provide ample room for expressive techniques. This fast, playable neck will inspire you to push your skills to new heights.

Premium Tonewoods Produce Resonant Tone

The Thoroughbred X's chambered mahogany body and quilted maple top work in concert to produce a full yet focused tone with rich mids, tight bass and singing highs. Mahogany's warmth is balanced by maple's crispness, yielding harmonically rich sound with piano-like bass, glassy mids and bell-like treble. These premium tonewoods give the Thoroughbred X exceptional resonance and sustain.

Streamlined Components for Intuitive Playability

The Thoroughbred X features a tune-o-matic bridge for solid intonation and sustain. Die-cast tuners provide precise, slip-free tuning. Volume and tone controls for each pickup, along with a 3-way toggle switch, offer simple tonal shaping and pickup selection. All components are thoughtfully designed for intuitive use so you can focus on technique and expression.

Love the look! The paint job is awesome nice clean not to fancy. It plays nice solid and smooth. It's no Gibson but still a solid take on the LP. It has a thinner neck profile and is light weight as well. The thick neck and heaviness are my main dislikes with Gibsons but not here. Definitely recommend.

This guitar is built really well. My son loves it. He has only been playing for a year but wanted a little better quality guitar that all of the beginner stuff out there. The pickups sound great. He will have this guitar for a long time I'm sure.
