Denon DJ SC5000 Prime Tutorial

Denon DJ SC5000 and Engine Prime Update v1.2

Denon DJ SC5000 PRIME Professional DJ Media Player

Description
The game-changing SC5000 Prime is the next evolution in professional DJ media players. Headlining its long list of innovative, high-tech features is the 7-in HD touchscreen that lets you simply tap and swipe your finger to intuitively access, organize and load your tracks without latency. The SC5000 is also the world’s first DJ media player capable of analyzing music files on the fly, thanks to its on-board, multi-core internal processor. Coupled with Denon’s proprietary Engine Prime music library software, the processor makes quick work of importing your music directly from iTunes or Serato DJ.
You’ll immediately appreciate the look and feel of the rugged, 8-in. touch-sensitive jog wheel, which features a customizable, full-color HD central display. Set the display to show off your own logo, photo, or simply show track artwork. The outer edge of the jog wheel is illuminated with a ring of RGB color, which can be personalized to fit your branding or mood.
Another unique feature of the SC5000 is its bank of eight multifunction trigger pads for cues, loops, slices and rolls, giving you an unprecedented level of creativity when you’re mixing. All of this game-changing technology is packed into a robust, pro-grade chassis that is built for rigorous professional use. Make no mistake, with 24-bit/96kHz digital audio output, this workhorse is ready to hit the road and take the main stage.
The SC5000’s dual-deck playback ability literally makes it two decks in one, with dedicated outputs for each layer and dual waveform display on the screen. Denon even outfitted the SC5000 with a LAN output for simple linking of up to four players at once, offering music file, digital networking and communication capability for the most demanding, high-end events. The sky is the limit with this powerful tool in your hands, and you’ll experience a whole new level of control and creative freedom.

The Deck That Is Two In One

I initially bought one to understand the ins and outs. Few months later or so, I bought a second one after acquiring the X1800 mixer. Needless to say, one can do the job But with two, you get the full experience of Denon DJ's Prime system. I use the system at my nightclub residency and they never have let me down! Not only they are powerful units on their own, but they can read Pioneer DJ's rekordbox drives with hot cues and loops readable! They are also Serato DJ Pro Official Accessories that can be used as controllers for the software! With the 6000's coming out, I would still point people to these players for the experience of the power of the future DJing.

Denon did a great job in the design of these decks, but forgot about the fundamentals. Simple yet important things are missing, like Time Remaining Display, and also the ability to jump back to the beginning of a track. Worst of all is that your entire music library must be re-scanned/analyzed using Denon's Engine software which adds another very time consuming task. These decks "can" work with Serato, but you will need the latest firmware update and 3 available USB ports. All things considered, the cost vs the hassles involved make them unattractive compared to other alternatives

Gonna keep it short but switched from XDJ-1000's to these and I can't believe I ever considered upgrading to CDJ-2000NXS2's. Got 3 of them + the x1800 mixer and have literally zero complaints. BUY DENON IT IS THE FUTURE.
Great Buy!

Great sound. Use digital out for best sound. Can also use them as a controller along with Serato Pro if you are into that. If so, you won't get the detailed screen of the sound waves. You will get a zoomed out one on the unit which shows the whole track. Have to use the engine software in order to zoom in on sound waves. Buttons feel great, cue buttons don't feel as great as the ones on the Denon Mc7000 but still feel great. Many detailed options to customize. Can upload image to center of jog wheel or use album art work. Easily go through music library. Can use serato pro and rekord box files. Construction feels sturdy. Wire hookups behind the unit are pushed back, making it easier to run wiring in a tight flight case. "Layer" function allows you to run two separate tracks at once. Kind of like having two units. When linking them via Ethernet line, you can read 1 usb stick in one media player on either one. The link feature allows you to browse on either unit. I own 1200's, mc7000 controller and now the Prime set along with x1800. By far, the best feel in djing. The hand stroke of the jog wheel is very similar stroke lengths as turntables. Not sensitive like many of the smaller controllers. Great buy!! Watch out Pioneer!!
I would definitely buy this again
