EMG

collapse expand iconDescription

This SL20 Steve Lukather prewired pickguard/pickup set is equipped with an SLV/SLV/85 pickup mix wired up with a single master volume and tone. The SLV is a custom pickup designed for the Grammy Award-winning guitarist behind Toto's biggest hits amongst other studio session work. The SLV is an overwound version of the SAV guitar pickup and features hidden pole pieces. The overwinding creates an even fatter tone to match up with the EMG 85 humbucking pickup.

The SL20 system is mounted on a black pearl pickguard with black knobs. Installing the SL20 pickup in your guitar won't guarantee you a Grammy Award, but it's a great way to get started and it won't hold you back.

What a great EMG drop in pick guard with a HSS for the strat already wired! Down side:9v battery Up side: no soldering All of the holes matched up mounting easily making the install a snap. Pro tip: have a few pieces of foam to sandwich the 9v battery and keep it quite and secure.

Dropped into a 1983 Kramer Pacer Deluxe with minimal alteration of the humbucker position to allow for clearance of the Floyd bridge. Five years later...still cannot find a more versatile setup. This thing does outstanding cleans and plays well with effects. The only complaint is the same I have for all 5 way switches and potentiometers...they wear out too fast! If it stopped working today, I'd order another tomorrow... or later today. Overnight freight, even...

Great set with quite a unique tone. I love it and took less then 15 minutes to install on my older MMM. Great sounds from deep low, brassy blues to high sharp pitch rock. It also combines both baritone and high tones flawlessly. Two thumbs up!

I must say that I am very impressed with the Steve Lukather EMG-SL20 setup. Iۡve been a fan of EMGۡs pickups since 1985 and also a huge fan of ToToۡs guitarist ۡ̏Steve Lukatherۡݕ_. He has well balanced sound that covers a huge range from a clean jazzy sound to heavy fused rock sound. The EMG-SL20 is able to cover that. Installation is straight forward. Unfortunately, I had to use my existing pickguard because of the width of my Floyd Rose tremolo system is to wide. Other than that, I was up and running in no time! Great Buy!!!

That would depend on why you have a hum issue. These are very quiet. They will not solve a local grounding problem.
