ESP LTD B-1005 Multi-Scale 5-string Bass Natural Satin

Description
Bass players often report that a multi-scale design is also ergonomically preferential to standard fret designs, and that they feel natural to play, with very little learning curve required.
Designed for professional players, the B-1005 Multi-Scale provides a swamp ash body with a top made of solid ziricote, an environmentally friendly and terrific-looking tonewood.
These basses also employ a five-piece wenge/purple heart neck with pau ferro fingerboard, constructed at 37” to 34” for the B-1005 Multi-Scale.
Its high-end components include a black bone nut, Gotoh tuners, and Hipshot Solo bridge, as well as a set of acclaimed Nordstrand Big Splits hum-cancelling pickups, along with an ABQ-3MS 3-band EQ.
This setup gives you incredible flexibility in tone, with an active/passive mini-switch, a mid-frequency selection mini-switch (800Hz or 400Hz), individual bass, treble, and mid EQ controls, and master volume and balance controls. Available in Natural Satin finish. Case sold separately.

I have a very beautiful 5 string Marcus Miller Bass, very playable and affordable. I did notice that the low B string could sound a little dull, but still, i think it's a great bass. Then I saw Leland Sklar talking about his fanned fret Dingwall, and saw that the resonance was so much better. Now, a Dingwall, pricewise, is out of my comfort zone. When I searched and found this alternative, I thought about it for 8 hours, and placed the order. I was not disappointed, at all. This bass is a beast. The pickups are top notch, the setup on the guitar near perfect, (my tech make a tiny adjustment on the bridge) the look and feel, the resonance, the sound, all great. The only awkward part of adjusting to the fanned frets is playing low notes at the first fret, my hand is behind the nut. Not really a problem, just a minor adjustment. If you're looking for this style of bass, you really can't go wrong with this one.

You have to be kidding! Once again, I am the first to write a review on a bass that players should be crawling over each other to obtain. This bass is a beast in every way. It's big, a bit heavy, but the thing that first got my attention was the 37-inch scale on the low B string. I have a nice collection of basses, but this big guy has the clearest B string I've EVER heard. Most basses are 34 to 35-inch scales, and their B strings can sound muddy. Not on this one. That extra 1-2 inches makes a world of difference. I had been looking at another multi-scale bass brand with the 37-34-inch scale, but they are much more expensive, and I'm not made of money. The B1005 has the same features and electronics as the other brand. This bass costs waaaaay less. I'm very happy with it. It's solid as a rock, the electronics are solid, the pickups are very powerful and clean in tone. All I can recommend is that you try one out and see for yourself why I highly recommend this bass.
