collapse expand iconDescription

The EarthQuaker Devices Plumes Small Signal Shredder Overdrive Effects Pedal provides a versatile palette of overdriven tones in a compact, rugged stompbox. With controls for Level, Tone and Gain, the Plumes allows guitarists to dial in everything from a touch of grit to saturated, harmonic-laden distortion. Its dynamic circuitry responds to pick attack and volume knob adjustments, making it highly interactive and responsive.

Wide-Ranging Gain Control

The Plumes' Gain knob supplies overdrive tones from subtle breakup to molten lead. At lower Gain settings, it imparts a touch of tube-like warmth and overdrive. As you increase the Gain, the Plumes transitions into a full-on distortion pedal with a raspy, cutting tone. The Gain control's wide range gives guitarists a multitude of overdrive flavors in a single pedal.

Shape Your Tone

The Tone knob on the Plumes allows you to shape your overdriven tone. Roll it back for a warmer, darker sound with pronounced lows or increase it for a brighter tone with articulate highs. At noon, the Tone knob provides an evenly balanced tone that works well for most musical styles. The Tone control's broad sweep gives you the flexibility to match the Plumes to the tonal needs of any song or guitar.

Mix and Level Controls

The Mix knob blends your overdriven tone with your clean signal, allowing anything from fully clean to completely overdriven sounds. The Level knob adjusts the Plumes' overall output volume to match your amp or other pedals in your signal chain.

Road-Ready and Versatile

Housed in a nearly indestructible cast-aluminum enclosure, the Plumes is built to endure years of gigging and studio use. It runs on a standard 9-volt power supply and measures a compact 4.5" by 2.25", saving space on your pedalboard. Whether you play searing rock leads, bluesy solos or anything in between, the Plumes Small Signal Shredder Overdrive Effects Pedal delivers a range of dynamic, responsive overdrive tones.

Everything you wanted that was missing from the Classic 808

I was never a huge "TS" fan. I never liked how there was this half clean time with a blanket of gain. I didnt like how you lost low end. And depending on the version some were so bright and some really dark. I did however fallin love with the Maxon Od80i but it still suffered from the same issue. This took everything I loved about my od808and added more clarity without being bright. It added lows without sounding fake or placed in as an after thought. It still gives that nice midrange jump that sounded awesome as well as it flattens the midrange. It has plenty of volume and gain on tap. The tone control is actually useful. all the way to the left it really warms up but still clear, to the right adds great top end and slightly tightens the bass in a nice way. I use it as a stand alone gain or as a gritty fat boost after a fuzz. If yourlike me and just wanted that classic od 808 with more low end more gain and jusadded clarity without and harsh treble spike fo for this pedal! It is great as a boost to a stand alone medium gain monster.

It's alright but not a keeper for me.

Bought it because of posi reviews, and earthquaker has good reputation overall. This one just didn't float my boat. Reviews claimed it was everything a tubescreamer wanted to be, but I found it the opposite. Sounds more like a juiced up Boss DS-1 to my ears. Tried all three modes, while mode 3 was most pleasant, still just not my thing. YMMV.

I got the Plumes a few weeks ago, so really haven't had the full experience with it yet. It's been great so far though. I got it for my own playing at home. I really enjoy the three modes, especially the second and third settings.

I chose this Plumes Overdrive over others, because of it's excellent reviews and tonal options. I'm relatively new to guitar playing and recording, so this is my only pedal. Adds a ton of punch and grit to my Blackstar Combo amp's already excellent overdrive channel. For recording, I actually plug it directly into my interface, and then through my Amp sims, and also, really makes it sound way better than just the sim alone! So, 5 stars for me! Thanks GC and Earthquaker!

  • Amazing quality for the price.

Bought this to be an intermediate gain stage in my set up. I've had tube screamer style overdrives and they always seem to change the sonic quality of my set up but this pedal has such a hi-fi sound. I love it and can't beat the price.

I have been really enjoying adding this pedal to my collection. Great clarity, plenty of gain and volume. A working tone knob is not as common as you would think since it is on most overdrive pedals but this is one that works and has a good usable range unlike some other brands I shouldn't have to mention. This has worked well on my solid state amp, modeling amp, modeling pedal, and my tube amps. This is a great overdrive pedal to have.

This is a very delicious overdrive pedal, you can roll back the gain on the third setting and get some light fatness to your clean tone, you can go full gain in mode 1 for tha crunch, or in the second mode you can boost your sound to be ginormous, Very good.
