I am going to use it to accompany myself on certain record projects. I am impressed at how close to a real base it sounds produces. I supposed it would be best to use a bass amp, I'm using a guitar amp. But it is an alternative to buying an amp and a real bass.

Does it need to be run through a bass amp? Will it blow speakers on guitar amp?
Not at all. This is designed for the guitar. Just watch your levels if your going to get extreme.
